Mine does it sometimes.... I notice it more when im shifting from 1 to 2nd, happens occasionally

A lot of that "clanking" could be due to how the shifter connects to the transmission externally, with only a flimsy rubber boot to contain the noise. I kind of dig it. Makes me believe I'm driving an old tractor.

Yes mine does as well 27k Had throw out bearing replaced as it was noisy, dealer said box was fine.

Usually only 1st and 2nd when shes cold.

As others have noted, noise is totally normal with this gearbox.
You'll learn to love it.

I test drove an old FWD car with a semi-decent gearbox (Matrix XRS with the Celica GTS 6-speed) and it felt very rubbery and imprecise (same with the new WRX) compared to the BRZ. Once you get used to it, that direct feel is addictive.
