Given the level of incompetence on the road today, I'd much rather drive my car on the track than on the streets. Much less variables to worry about.

I think it just comes down to common sense and knowing YOUR individual limits. You can easily go out to the track and have a good time and come home in one piece. Just keep it within reason. No reason for people to go 10/10ths.

My friend had a blast when he went with me and he was driving like 6/10ths the entire day in his '14 Mustang GT.

Taking your words totally out of context, I totally agree.

Ok so I can't say I know anything about track insurance... But if you don't post a time but still crash during 86cup... couldn't they figure out you were racing based on the time and place you crashed? I mean, no one else could have been doing timed laps that day right?

Going to the track thinking you will crash is already a really really bad thing. If you race your car, you will eventually crash. It might be minor, or you might destroy the whole thing but like many said its not if but when. Now, if you go to the track already thinking you will crash and that you need insurance to pay for it, you are literally telling yourself to crash, and you probably will. Just dont, or forget about crashing, surpass the fear and have fun within your limits.

If you are scared just don't do time trial. Sounds to me they won't cover time trial. And participating but not carrying a transponder sounds look a good way to get into "gray area".

Just do HPDE and get harrys lap timer or a personal data logging device and call it a day.

I carried insurance for my first few track days but decided to just roll the dice now. It is kind of expensive and part of the reason I got this car is because it is relatively cheap. So saving that insurance $ lets me do more events. As far as I know the coverage is only for property (i.e. car and track damage) not personal injury. I can live with writing off the car and they won't cover my body anyway.

My BRZ is paid. If I had a high $ car that I just wanted to try on the track once or twice yea I would get the insurance though.

This is why I don't wear condoms, helmets, or seat belts.

Dont know if you are being sarcastic or not, but I'll bite.

Condoms, helmets and seatbelts protect you, the person, your well-being. Insurances dont give a f**k about you and certainly wont help you survive a crash.

Timed cars are out with untimed cars, basically a few people in the HPDE group rent transponders and compare times after lapping. Sometimes there's a special session for these people where they space everyone out so they get clean laps in but that's rare.

There's no "86cup line up for your session" going on, it's just a regular HPDE with individual timing.

I don't actually give a shit if you buy insurance or not. I'm just being a sarcastic prick about your logic. Resolved: using something that you use in an accident means you're thinking about having an accident. Thinking about having an accident means you'll have an accident. Ergo, don't use things that you'll use in an accident.

Insurance is a financial instrument. Either the cost/benefit makes sense, or it doesn't. Helmets are inanimate objects. I'd say they don't care about you either, but the cost/benefit makes sense.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. You do you, playboy.
