lol as if that wasn't contractually pre-determined 6+ years ago.

What's with the wide bass openings on cars? I dig the 2017 wheels though.

Fully expecting a refresh from Subaru, but hopefully not as ugly as the Toyota 86.

I am curious what they did to the engine, can you swap whatever new parts to the old one, 5hp is 5hp. If I can bolt it on and not void the warranty great. If its new pistons or something oh well its only 5hp :P

5hp is adding a mopedlike pedal-powered assist with a 5 year old kid behind the pedals hopped-up on candy bars, I remain unimpressed.
The styling is the one place they hit a bullseye, leave it alone.

Basically, Toyota is like George Lucas, focusing on all the CG when he needs to work on his character development.

It's all about the bass about the bass, no turbo....

They must have hired the guy that designed the Mitsuoka Orochi. Guy saw The Last Starfighter one to many times and had a hard on for Zandozans.

Don't forget this car is the brainchild of Toyota.

They announce first to get all the hype and press. Subaru will follow up a few months later.

The FR-S did start selling months before the BRZ came out.... I don't expect anything different this time around.

Does that mean the BRZ will get the same refresh as the 86? Like all the "go fast" parts . Just so we are all clear I'm not talking about exterior (IMO the toyota refresh now kind of looks like the BRZ). I wouldn't mind having hill assist on my car since I still get nervous on hills.

How is it after all this time people still think of them as different cars? I am truly baffled not being sarcastic or a smartass. They are the same thing with a few minor cosmetic/gizmo changes. The BRZ will have all the same "upgrades" and a slightly different look just like the exFRS

Like was said already the split was decided before the first car ever rolled off the line. The number of BRZs world wide is much smaller but not because they don't sell as well but because that was all that were made in the firstplace.

Look back historically and Subaru has always announced their annual upgrades/prices and released their cars way behind Toyota. Probably just a corporate schedule and not to allow Toyota to grab all the press. That different companies have different release schedules so that they are not all vying for attention at once is true though.

+ the fact that Toyota owns a big chunk of FHI means that Subaru will always be behind Toyota.
