Let me see...

I had a new tranny installed under warranty...the new installation is defective...and I have 1000 mi left on my warranty.

I wonder if I should return to the dealership...?

Boy, that's a tough one!

Oh wait, I'll just see what the guys on the internet say!

I'd have to say this is not normal

I had mine replaced and my 5th gear does not vibrate more or less than any other gear
What I did notice is that my 5th gear is shorter than my original .. not sure why Hahaha

Parts replaced under warranty with new, OE Subaru/Toyota parts will not be limited by your warranty expiration date/mileage.

It usually is an additional 12 months or 12000 miles, or your vehicle warranty. Whichever is greater.

Well, usually, when a synchronizer is bad (or going bad) the transmission will "grind" going into gear. After a synchronizer has been eaten up, about the only way to shift gears, without grinding, is by double clutching and/or rev matching or jake shifting.

It's been my experience that when I "grind" going into 5th or 6th, it's because I've "lazy legged" the clutch (didn't push it all the way down).

Yep, slow, firm and steady ......that's what she likes ......

updating this thread with this thread here..

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104065

Took it back to a different dealer and they said it wasn't normal and to have the bushings replaced. I wanted to call the dealer again today because they seem to be giving me the go around and don't exactly want to work on it. What should I ask them to check while the car is there?

A dealership repair should have a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty independent of you new car warranty
