Wish I could find the other thread on the subject but can't. The ones with the issue seemed to be a very closely grouped batch based upon VINs. All were fixed under warranty with no questions asked which usually means there was a know issue even if no TSB is issued. It was suspected (as also said in the linked thread) that the trim may have been too ridged and wore the paint causing the issue. Even the other thread only had 8 or so cars so not exactly a rampant issue no matter how you look at it. All had done it within a year so if still OK then probably not going to be a problem.
I recall it so well because being an Ontarioite the minute I see the word "rust" all sorts of alarm bells go off and I start digging for info. I have had 6 or 7 year old cars with no floor left so I panic a bit at the thought.

I seem to remember a thread or two as well. It was the first thing that came to mind when reading this one.

It's a shame that the "specialists" advising the magazines are not feeding them the correct info.. On a positive note residual values are strong in the UK.

I've got 2013 and had this problem, service manager thought it looked fine with touche up paint over the rust told them it looked ugly as f**k and they replaced once the parts came in after a month

So it obviously can still pop up outside the 13s then. Not sure I have seen many others beyond those first ones though. Was yours also right at the trim or some other place?

I did the same.. Got too lazy to fill in with touchup paint so left it alone.

Really surprised that no rust is occurring

I currently have the same rust in a late model 2014. Went to the dealer and they ordered the part to replace it no questions asked. I just haven't gone back to get it done even tho that was a 6 months ago...

My car goes back to the dealer once a year for its service and I think they carry out a body inspection so any paint issues that may lead to the dreaded rust attack should be picked up!

HMMMM so maybe we have a second set of issues developing with late 14s? Of course two guys is not enough to call a pattern yet but it can indicate the start of a trend.
Checked my early 14 and all is still good. I will be watching more closely again though.

Mine was at the bottom on both sides like pictured earlier in this thread. The service manager had to have someone else come out to look at it because he had never heard of the issue. I also was there to get the dash and steering wheel replaced. Which now there is a funny rattling from my dash that im gonna have to dig into to look for one of these days..

The same magazine article also mentioned potential rattles from the dashboard. We are doomed!! Only 4 years into the model run! Don't wish to stereotype but I thought the Japanese car manufacturers were top of their game.
