Welp, if you knew where you were going and were driving within the speed limit, you shouldn't need to see either one while driving.
In these parts, they just passed a "distracted driving law" ...... which means that if you have a cell phone, a pack of cigarettes, a drink or anything to eat within reach, while sitting in a car, with the engine running, you can be fined ..... However, it's an "open carry" state, so you can have a loaded handgun on your lap while driving ..... humfrz |

- suction cup to window, won't stick in hot weather when plastic gets too hot
- magnet to vent, didn't work because too small and not enough clearance above radio - bracket to rear view mirror, works but vibrates the rear view mirror and slight adjustments also requires re-adjusting the rear view. Nothing seems to really work perfectly in my car without some kind of drawback.

Beatsonic dash mount is still my favorite. Not sure if you can get them still though.
If not a RAM mount on the small triangle window would be my next choice. Have that in my MR2 Spyder and is the only thing after 4 other attempts that doesnt vibrate like hell |

And I'm driving in excess of 30K miles per year again in Florida, Texas and Oklahoma. There's no hope of knowing where I'm going without help. I spent seven years finding my way around unfamiliar streets with physical map books in a variety of cities, and I'll never willingly go back to that. |

As far as a GPS, yes, I agree they are helpful. However, I use the GPS in my aftermarket head unit. I just enter where I want to go and the girl tells me how to get there ...... Also, since my phone hooks up to the head unit wirelessly, I just leave it in the glove box. So, when I get pulled over for "distracted driving", I have no excuse ...... the LEO tells me to drive carefully...... and slowly ...... and for heavens sake turn off my turn signal ....... humfrz |

Weather radar comes in handy in the areas where I drive. I have used it to stay put while a hail core passed in front of me. I have pulled over under an overpass in extremely heavy rain and checked the radar to see if it was worth staying put for a while to let it clear. When you drive as much as I do, it's helpful. I actually have two radar apps. Quote:
I have the stock 2014 BRZ head unit. The navigation has always left something to be desired. I used to enter my destination in both the head unit and the phone in case I needed a detour, but the head unit has become so laggy that now I just don't bother. I also stream my music library through the head unit, and the MP3 player control interface on the head unit also sucks. So I need the phone within reach to avoid punching the head unit. |

"In addition to targeting electronic devices, the new law also makes illegal a variety of other “Dangerously Distracted” driving practices. The Dangerously Distracted section of the new law includes banning ANY activity not related to driving that interferes with the safe operation of your vehicle as a secondary offense. Examples might include: eating, spilling your coffee, your dog on your lap, putting on makeup or shaving. While you can’t be pulled over for these non-driving related distractions, if the distraction contributes to you to committing a traffic violation, such as crossing the centerline or following too close, then you can receive an additional $99 fine for being dangerously distracted." humfrz |
