Stealth Phone Mount (Magnet)

After a lot searching for a non intrusive phone mount, I have took a trip to Home Depot and created my own.

For those interested in how I did it.

Here's your Home Depot shopping list:

Remove the dashboard cover around the radio, carefully using something plastic to pry it out. Using strong tape, tape the magnet to desired location. I did both left and right sides of the radio. I actually used super glue in addition.

It's great, I can flip my phone horizontally if I want.

No, big bumps don't drop it.
No, does not affect GPS, compass on phone, I've tested.

That's an awesome idea! I've been thinking about doing something similar to that to mount my OFT but wasn't sure if it would cause any interference.

You shouldn't put randomly purchased magnets near electrical devices or your phone, dude.

I don't quite understand what "randomly purchased" has anything to do with it. A magnet is a magnet, no?

They sell this at amazon: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/iMagnet-Cradle-less-Universal-Windshield-Dashboard/dp/B008IOQ3K6"]Amazon.com: The Original iMagnet[/ame]
A best seller in car mounts.

I'm more interested on how your playing a video on the stock head unit?

Randomly purchased, as in picking up a random magnet from a hardware store capable of holding 25 lbs for a cell phone. Hardly what is posted in your Amazon link. Let me know if you would like me to be more clear, kiddo.

Well I love the idea of a clean phone mount. Magnets can be damaging to electronics :/

Anyone want to explain how magnets are a bad idea?
Can you explain the phones that have magnets inside of them stock?

It's not an issue.

I used a magnetic mount in the past and it didn't do anything to my phone or head unit. The only problem was that every time I hit a bump the phone would fall off of the mount.
(This is the one I had: http://www.mountek.com/shop/categori...-plus-tablets/ )

From my understanding as long as it doesn't have a hard drive it should be perfectly safe. Hard drives are pretty sensitive to magnets. Now a days electronics are very well shielded so it should be a non issue.
