A normally operating HPFP makes all kinds clicking and clacking, but that is perfectly normal.

It is the same part number, but the updated parts have a green dot sticker next to the part number. The updated parts have been produced since April of this year.

http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...d=290&loc=show Another poster recommended this Mercury Quicksilver 2-stroke oil: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mercury-Qu...d-Oil/17165294 A salient feature about it is compliance with TC-W3: http://www.nmma.org/certification/ce...oil/tc-w3.aspx Lucas also makes a TC-W3 oil: http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...id=17&loc=show So given all of the above, would you still say the Lucas Semi Synthetic 2-CYCLE Oil is the best choice for our cars? I just don't know enough about the science of it. |

Back when I was a production line mechanic if I heard that sound I would have been walking the line trying to locate the bearing that was getting ready to fail so I could have the replacement part handy for the next scheduled shutdown or when it failed, whichever came first. I don't like that sound and yes I know in this case it probably has nothing to do with a part about to fail. I still don't like it.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread lately, but I figure I should share that I now have a little over 7,000 miles on my FRS and no longer hear the chirping. Never had the high pressure fuel pump or anything replaced. And I use regular 93 octane fuel, no E0 fuel or anything.

I used it in my 2.5 common rail T diesel for years at 1:200 to compensate for the low sulphur content in modern diesel fuel which lubricates the HP fuel pump for the direct injection. Much quieter, smoother and better economy that more than paid for the 2T. It's used quite extensively in diesels and there's lots of info on it if you look. The criteria for the 2T is quality, low or no ash and mineral is fine. The Lucas 2T sounds ok. 1:1000 is a very low, that's less than a teaspoon of it in a gallon. We don't get the chirps in Oz because ethanol is still rare and not available in the grade specified but i've tried 2T in mine at that mix with no problems, not that I expected any, only benefits. I think it might even clean the fuel system and help keep the fuel fresh too? |

This is an interesting post about 2T, mainly in diesels but very positive about it's properties.
I have a few litres left and might start adding it again just to keep it sweet, quiet and for economy. It's Valvoline 2T Racing Oil to JASO FC, API TC and ISO GD http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...ml#post4999743 |

My chirping came back as well. Toyota did the fix about 1500 miles ago and they are back. But this time its more of a squeeking noise.
I havent been on in awhile, so I just read about the 2 cycle oil. I'm thinking about possibly trying it out, but does anyone know of anyother engine lubricants that might work as well? |
