I'm kind of curious to know if there's a correlation between how "stirred" the fuel gets (the difference between driving on a twisty road/autocross/HPDE/etc versus a highway cruise) and how chirpy the fuel pump gets?

I've been running Shell VPower 93 since day one and the crickets have only been getting louder. Pretty sure it has 10% ethanol.
Subaru has an updated High Pressure Fuel Pump, the dealer installed it under warranty, has been chirpless ever since.

He's one of the lucky ones that the crickets didn't come back. There's several other "green dot" pump users that have crickets again. Sounds like another fluke... just keep waiting.

I know this issue has been discussed in great length. All I have to add to this is that after trying different fuel brands and even ethanol free. I had the best results from ethanol free fuel. Took the crickets away for good. But this was my experience not sure if this will work on other cars.

Manufacture date May 2013, purchased June 2013.

Crickets emerged ~ 300 mi, and at 800 mi they became loud enough to hear in the car with windows up.

Yes, right on schedule, around 330 miles (second tank of gas).

I'm on my 4th tank of Shell 93. Yesterday on the way home I could only hear them with my windows rolled up, perhaps coming through the sound tube? As soon as I rolled down the windows I think the surrounding noise drowned them out. So maybe mine aren't that loud at the moment.

So, I may have killed my crickets.

After reading this post about using 2-stroke oil to presumably lubricate the fuel system, I researched the issue in general, and came across fuel treatments that attack the ethanol problem. For instance:

http://petelandrysrealgas.com/2013/0...ive-of-choice/

and then found Briggs & Strattons answer to the problem in small engines:

http://www.channel3000.com/news/Brig...z/-/index.html

I couldn't readily find the B&S product locally, but found the Sta-Bil Marine Blue at Walmart. $10 for a bottle that treats 80 gallons.

Yesterday morning I filled up with Shell 93, and I definitely still had crickets. I drive about 12 miles to work, and I can hear them from inside the car when I arrive. I also heard them when I arrived at Walmart at lunchtime today.

Walking back to the parking lot, I started the car and confirmed that I still heard the crickets. So I put 1 oz of Sta-Bil Marine into my nearly full tank, and drove the 5 miles back to work. Guess what? No crickets!

Frankly this is what I was hoping for, but didn't expect it immediately. I may have to take the car for a spin mid-afternoon just to sanity check. But my intention is not to treat subsequent tanks until the crickets return, to further measure what the impact of this single treatment was.

If anyone wants to try this too, please let me know your result!
