you can turn off your car with Manual neutral and save fuel though.

Live in DC. Moving to L.A. AT was the only choice for me. Rofl.

Although driving by Lake Michigan made me half-regret it.

There is an option missing in the poll, it should read

Manual Transmission - Because automatic is not really driving

Regular auto transmission in low torque sport car does not make sense. If there was an option for something like DSG, I would consider it. Other than that the manual is a way to go. I also do not believe that those who manage to squeeze 30 mpg from it are actually enjoying that car. I barely capable to get 23 mpg in mixed cycle, and I do not even drive too aggressively.

You know if Toyobaru wasn't so sure in its AT being decent, they would have crapped out on it and just sold MT to begin with. I'll never knock stick, but some of you guys are a little overly enthusiastic about it and quick to knock someone for choosing something different. Maybe being "connected" with the car has different takes for people. And a lot of us use this car as a bridge between more than just the fun factor. Not to sound like a ****, but no one pays my car note but me :P.

Manual because IMO it fits the back-to-basics theme of the car.

I'm averaging well over 30MPG (and as much as 35MPG) in my 6AT, and I'm about as far as you can get from hypermiling with it.

MT for me. At just under 2k mi. the computer tells me I'm averaging 30.7mpg. This is mixed city/hwy, driving conservatively for the most part with some spirited sessions every now and then. Overall I have no real preference between MT and AT at the moment. I can appreciate the advantages and disadvantages of both.

Manual.
I've never driven an auto that didn't frustrate me (admittedly I haven't driven that many and some good ones may exist).

Wish i got the manual because that's all i've driven. In the Rx-8 i have learned every way possible to drive that beast including drinking coffee, eating burgers, holding hands, all while being able to shift while having full control of the car. (even though sometimes a knee was involved in steering)
-yes i felt like a boss

The AT on this car is one of the most solid ATs that i have driven i do give it that, and commuting everyday for 50 miles, but this was the only car on the lot.. and i needed a car... and i thought i'd give it a chance so here i am
