I don't know how much its worth or if its true but the mechanic dud tell me that Toyota was looking into some type of assembly lube or silicone that was making it into the vvti gears gumming it up. Probably just another theory they have.

I'm starting to feel like our cars are the beta tests for this manufacturing defect, and they don't want to admit their mistake.
My rep is a guy named Clayton. So far I havent gotten anything useful from them either. I just called the dealership directly to check the status of it. The parts (ECU and oil control valve) were ordered 2 days ago and as of 5 minutes ago, there is still no ETA for these parts. Plus, I'm told they're backordered. I'm about to ask them to rip the parts off one of the new FR-S' they have sitting in the lot. Either that or get me another whiteout FR-s and keep the POS they sold me. It's getting ridiculous. 7 days of ownership, 1 day of driving it!

I asked to speak with a manager and they told me Darren was the manager. I asked him why they are using the Pony Express to deliver parts... If there was a valid reason to use expedited shipping, this would be one of them. We didn't buy a TV stand or something, this is a new car. Apparently, some assembly is required for Scion.

***This is just speculation***... The same thing happened to me at 230 miles. I hard reset the ECU, clearing the CEL. Just went to get gas and do a few test runs to see if it came back on...it did after 5 miles, but i noticed that the "lower" power band before the noticeable dip seems to disappear when the CEL comes on. makes since. Now being the genius i am (sarcasm), i decide to ignore the light and floor it just to see what was what and viola...the "upper" power band seemed to still be there (so much for limp mode...and i may have made a vtec joke)...

Is it possible that whatever Toyota/Subaru did to create that initial hump (i like to think of it as MAGIC) is causing the problems? Would this be able to show up on a dyno if one was done while the CEL was/is on? (this is still assuming that my cars condition is the same as this...)

I had the same top end power, still flogged it through the weekend to get around. The dealership said I could

I think i may get a dyno done just to see if the only thing affected is the low end grunt...

Update!!!
August 15,2012

Got the car back!!

First time I sat down into the car is like I'm excited but at the same time nervous that something might happen but Yeah i took the confidence from the Tech and my service rep! (Shout out to Miguel Toyota Technician who took care of my baby -- I saw him work and he was really careful w/ every parts; politely answered all my questions and taught me some stuff about this new motor and My service rep Ryan who kept me updated about the situation!!) from Toyota Vallejo.

Drove it 30+ miles from dealer, so far so good! It is running smoother! Even in Idle, i didn't feel the horrible shaking that it looks like it's gonna stall. More stable idle! The rpm dip when you come to a stop, nothing happened so far. I did not get enough time drive for more miles cuz lots of household chores to do. So, I'll drive it more tomorrow morning to check it starting from a cold start and check the stuff that I'm noticing before it got fix. I'll update again for sure.

*The clunking sound that I mentioned that you can hear when you release the clutch-- Tech said it sounds like it is coming from the clutch pressure plate. So yeah, nothing to worry about cuz the car have a 5 year drive-terrain warranty, if anything goes wrong. (Another thumbs up for my tech!!)

***So, all guys that have this issue.. Symptoms: CEL ON, Slip warning light ON, rpm dip coming from a stop and unstable idle PLEASE BE ADVICE BRING IT INTO YOUR LOCAL DEALER and let them know. Toyota will take care of you! --also for Subaru BRZ owners if you have these symptoms.(They took the replaced parts for testing to find out what is the cause)

Glad to hear everything went smoothly for you! What is your mileage? (If you don't mind me asking)
