Why do some springs (Tanabe, H&R) have a bigger drop in the rear while others (Tein, Prova) lower the front more? Is it a function vs. looks thing? The only reason I can imagine why you'd want a lower rear end is to move weight bias back (but I don't imagine a couple mm's would make much difference). Visually the front needs a bigger drop to keep the wheel gap consistent front to back.

And the spring rates are confusing too. Some of the lowering springs barely increase front rate at all, while many of the coilover come with the same rates front/back or stiffer fronts. Why the different approach?
I don't even think I've ever seen an FR with stiffer springs in the back. Can't argue with the result handling-wise but it's too bad there's not more choices offered by the aftermarket (I see you RCE , just surprised you're the only ones). But then if you wanna get all anal about rates, I spoze that's what coilovers are for.

Thx Darren and WingsOfWar for the informative and easily digestible info. One of the better enthusiast forums I've visited.

I have my ride set on a 7 stiffness level all the way around and its more stiff that stock but not bad at all for daily driving. The height in this picture is adjusted. Out of the box the BCs I had would have dumped the car.

Cost and compromise is the name of the game...

On the affordable side that still very comfortable, I recommend the Hotchkis springs with Koni shocks, or even the Sportlines. The new ST suspension coilovers look like they may be perfect for her needs.
Pair either of these with camber/caster adding upper shock mounts and your will have a very comfortable car, great performance and no more cost than most entry level coils!

If you want a bit more adjustability, then I have 3 very happy customers with Ground Control kits. They are very nice.

I also like the FEAL kit (BIG review coming soon), but they are for someone who sounds more focused on track days than your GF.

Best

Just let everybody know I have been testing the Bilstein Damptronic package on my FRS. I make a control box for the Porsches and GTRs that we adapted to the FRS, it uses the CAN for G, steering ,tps and braking to control the shocks. It rides soft but firms up based on mapping, pretty cool.

Why is it that all the springs with minor drops are TBA? I don't want to go very low and right now the lease I can find is the RCE Yellows with their .8" but I think I'd prefer a .5" instead.
