Fixing the wiring issue is very simple, I cut the blue and white wires and used bullet terminals to reconnect them.

(Try to ignore the filthy garage, It needs some cleaning but I always end up playing with the car instead )
thats beautiful! more pics pls! daytime and night and all of that good stuff

Yes, after shipping they were right around $400. I ordered from japanparts.com

I will get a video of them tomorrow in the daylight and again at night time. Big props to @BuBlake for biting the bullet and purchasing these and then posting the images and videos. I wanted these for a while but I was skeptical until I saw his pics and videos.

I received and installed these as well. Have you had any wet trunk issues after rain or a car wash? The new tails aren't really sealed against the bodywork at all.

How did you destroy them? Trying to vinyl them?

I received my red ones today and I can confirm that mine are wired incorrectly...pretty annoying. More info and pics to follow.

----

OK, success! Rewiring isn't difficult at all and doesn't involve any wire cutting/soldering/etc. Here are some pics and info:

My lights shipped 1/25, with an amazingly fast ETA of 1/30. Somehow, they actually arrived a day early on the 29th. Nice looking box:

And inside:

I excitedly hooked up the first light and was pretty pissed when it was clearly wired incorrectly (at least for our US cars). The yellow center light stayed solid and the red outer bar would hyperblink as a turn signal. Many many thanks to BuBlake for doing the experimenting and discovering that we need to swap the blue and white wires to achieve proper functionality. And thanks to Gixxer for explaining that you can actually just slide the wires out. I used a very small screwdriver and it was pretty easy once I figured it out. You stick the screwdriver in the side of the harness opposite the wires, and decompress the tiny white tab, by pushing it in the direction AWAY from the wire you are trying to remove...while pulling the wire. Here's what the wires look like once released:

You just swap them and slide them back in and they click into place. No big deal!

One light installed, big improvement IMO:

Both in:

Hazards:

Overall, I think the lights look great. They look very bright in general, although the turn signals may be quite a bit dimmer than stock. I'll take some daylight pics soon so you can see how the red housings look.

I just reused the stock gaskets...I suppose it would be nice to install fresh gaskets along with the new lights. We'll have to see how these hold up, but of course I'm a bit worried about condensation issues. I did use a torque wrench and torqued the nuts down to 39 in. lb., and in the proper order, as noted in the service bulletin.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Phaedrus29, thanks for the pics! I'm definitely considering these taillights for my BRZ!

Can you confirm if the individual bulbs are visible in the red-housing version, like in this pic I spotted on the forums a while back (this is a clear version..)?

looking forward to seeing the daytime shots!
