Now we kinda know what kind of wheel offset we can expect (45, 48 or 50)
Thx for that.

Guessing if ppl want "poke" with this car they will need something around 9.5 wide w/ +30 offset.

Anyone care to look into what the rules are for the classes? It's kind of silly to say that the S2k will eat its lunch if there is balancing in the regs...

Also team history etc... The Toyota team is basically a back-door works team against what may be a bunch of privateers.

Issues like this can bring a bit more perspective to the results. Subaru PR likes to take advantage of this. They placed a heavily modded (by Cosworth) STI in a hillclimb, and slapped around a bunch of supercars with a pro driver. But no-one looked into the mods done to place it in the same class as those supercars (Ariel Atom V8, Lambos, etc...), especially when there was a lower class that looked more suitable (other rally-type cars).

If the FT86 is in the same class as an S2K it isn't the underdog. Still means good things for us, though!

Also no-one brought up that BBS were an option (standard?) on STIs.

Yep - 100% RE11S

Also i managed to zoom into one of the photos and with a little Photoshop magic i can tell that its a 17" tyre with a 45 profile. Width wise i can make out a 2 and a 5 but not the number in the middle.

Just looked on the Bridgestone website and the smallest they do is 215/45R17 so thats the front tyres covered.

The back do indeed appear to have marginally bigger side walls, but they only make this tyre in a 17 on a 45 sidewall (215-235, anything wider they make on a 40 profile but there is no way these are 245's on the back), so i would hazard a guess at 225/45R17 on the rear as they dont look wide enough to be 235's in the rear shot.

But it might be 215/45/17. From the pic, tires isn't really wide, but my guess is 215

edit: Looking at it again & again... rear might be 225... but still IDK

yeah but OEM wheel designs are usually bespoke, made for them by BBS, enkei, etc. they dont take an off the shelf BBS wheel and make it the OEM wheel. that's why when i found out those wheels were BBS wheels, and not a new design, i was bummed. it would've been real cool to have those wheels as OEM or even an option but since it's a production wheel, that only means the team is using it just for the race. i hope im wrong but i dont think so....

True, it could be the same size tyre all around. But im hoping Toyota are using a staggered arrangement From the angles of the pictures the rears just look like there is a tiny little bit more rubber than the front.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE-11S are the latest from Bridgestone in a long line of semi-slick tires designed for the highest grip levels possible on the circuit whilst still useable on the street.
  • Designed for motorsport use, with new spiral belt structure for greater rigidity
  • Designed for improved turn-in and increased temperature range compared to the RE55S
  • Designed primarily for dry grip, not recommended for low grip wet weather street use
  • Directional design, install in accordance to arrows on sidewall
  • Price is for 1 tyre, shipping will be reduced automatically in Shopping cart for large quantities
  • Not road legal in some countries (such as Europe), please check local regulations before purchase.

+1.

FT-86 = $20k + 200 hp

S2K = $30k-ish + 240 hp

(and that's just two of the metrics)

Every time you think your FT-86 sucks because it is not an S2000, you can cheer yourself by thinking about the extra $10k you have in your bank account.

The bottom line is: The S2000 was a blast to drive. If the FT-86 is a blast to drive, I'm good with that.

Jeez, those RE-11S tires are so cool! Total death in the wet, of course, but they must be superb in the dry.

I've just noticed something else from this picture (different to the one we've already seen, there is more in this one so i think the version of this we've seen already was a crop of this) -

The numberplate is advertising www.h-r.com.

So i guess the car is running a nice set of h-r shocks, springs, coilovers or something

Also there is a company being advertised across the top of the rear window. It was covered up in all other pictures but appears to be revealed here. Something along the lines of W*******N.DE..... May give us a bit more info if we can find out who its advertising...

i wouldnt be so sure. if you look at the pdf file in the 1st post, you'd see that H&R is actually a sponsor...

and the rear window just has the website of the race series www.vln.de

PS: anyone notice the LV murse on the guy to the right?

That sounds like a good assumption

Front 215/45/17

Rear 225/45/17

The sidewall profiles do look different on the rear. For the street, I would think a 7.5" for the front and 8.5" width for the rear would be the max.

Yes H&R is just a standard sponsor.
