Yeah, that sucks. Good luck. At this point though I would recommend getting the car fixed and going from there (and yes file for diminished value). Your car is so new that trading it in with a major accident will kill trade-in value.

If the car runs good for a few years and you still have full warranty coverage on the car it might make more sense to keep it 1-2 more years and then wait on a refreshed FR-S/BRZ that may make more power. The biggest depreciation hit on a new car is when you drive it off the lot, which is essentially where you are now.

I'll do that once I get the PDF file from them. They're still in the process of putting everything in the computer.

Right now, they do not see any mechanical damage. They will do an alignment after the car has been fixed.

I'm surprised.. They said there was no suspension damages....

No transmission problem either they claimed so far.

The only problem they see is sheet metals need to be replaced, get my airbag tested, and pretty much straighten out the frame a tiny bit.

I got myself checked out.. Nothing too serious.

Well... Good news is that if they said there is no mechanical damage.... (They better not BS me)

The only thing is the frame I'm worried about. Let's say next time an idiot comes up and rears end me again.. I don't think it will hold up the same as before. They did said the trunk took most of the damage, and not really the bumper.. o_o

I've never heard of the lawyer being paid by the insurance company. After you win, sure...but not before. They get paid from winnings.

You guys are making it sound like he can bill the insurance company directly upon walking into the lawyers office. What state do you people live in where it works like this?

So the car shifts into park now that they've taken it apart a bit? How much are they saying your car has depreciated since leaving the dealer lot? If they say its only worth 20 grand you only have to come up with another 3k in repairs. Kinda hard to believe there's no suspension parts damage from the pics of the rear. Maybe you'll get lucky when they get further into things.

Last time I had the car, the car goes to neutral drive and M. I could not take the key out. Somehow they were able to take key out but still in neutral. I'm surprised how they find no mechanical damage at all .

Yeah, that's definitely a little goofy. I'm guessing that they'll probably be asking for another supplemental once they tear it down some more.

They have to ask the insurance to give me the pdf file for which parts need to be replaced...
In your opinion, what mechanical damage should there be with this kind of damage?
