you could ask your vendor. I've seen worse than your setup, so yes both will work fine.

Hi,
I just got my Rota Grid 18x9.5 +38 and I put 235/40/18 michelin tires on them. I am on stock suspension. My question is : has anyone tried this setup (235/40/18 on 18x9.5 +38 all around) with Eibach Sportline springs. I wonder if i's ok without rubbing issue. I have seen on the web that it seems to be ok with 255/35/18, but I didn't have the choice when I got my tires. If anyone has allready done this, did you have to camber and if so, wich camber bolt or camber plate do I need. Thank you in advance for your help. PS : happy to be here with such a great community

Hi i am looking at getting rays gram light 57xtreme wheels but i am looking at 18 x 9.5 +40 all-round.
I am looking for a 20mm drop with 235/40/18 michelin s3 pilots and coil overs. i dont really want any poke or rubbing. Will this setup work? I have noticed alot of people having 18 x 8.5 in the front and 18 x 9.5 in the rear. is that because the fronts will rub or poke? |

This is pretty much the same setup, so this answer should resolve both your questions. Firstly, 18x9.5 +38 (or +40) will not work on the fronts without coilovers. I have searched the wheel directory in this subforum (which most of you should do when researching) and it seems that everyone running this setup are running coilovers, not sport springs. The issue is with the inboard clearance to the strut on the fronts. My 18x9+35 setup only gives me only 4mm clearance to the strut perch, whereas these wheels will be 9-11mm closer. You can do the math, it don't fit. And yes, that is why many are running 8.5 fronts & 9.5 rears due to strut clearance. Coilovers will provide additional clearance that allow this wheel size and offset to be run on all 4 corners (square). As for tire size, 245/35R18 is a great size as it is the perfect stock diameter. The 235/40R18 will be too tall and may also cause rubbing issues depending on your camber and lowering. Theoretically, a 255/35R18 is a great size for that wheel and should fit, but please research to see what others' experiences are. I know some are even running 265s on this wheel setup but have taken the time to setup the car properly. Start here and look for anything close to your size and click the wheel or vehicle image just above that size for more info. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7535 Research is key! |

Let's try this again since I cannot grasp the concept of what to change when offset and width change, all stock suspension, not going to lower cause of winter:
Setup 1: XXR 527 17x8.25 +35 Bridgestone RE760 @ 225/45/17 Setup 2: Enkei RSF5 17x7.5 +40 Bridgestone RE760 @ 225/45/17 If still terrible, can the Enkei RSF5 or M52s be run on stock? Also trying to learn about spacers Thanks! |

On stock suspension and camber, the XXR's will be close to flush while the Enkei's will be tucked in a tad (about 15mm inward compared to the XXR's). Tires are marginally taller than stock, but not enough for concern. |

Thank you Slick for your reply!
I have done extensive search for different combos and have had mixed results thats why i am asking for another opinion. Some say 18 x 9.5 +40 will fit on the front no prob with 235/40/18 michelin ps3 tires and others say the tire will stretch? So i am a bit confused. I would like to go with the gram light57 xtreme 18 x 8.5 +33 all-round but they dont have the concave look im after that the 18 x 9.5 +40 have. I will be purchasing coil overs. I just dont want tire stretch, rubbing or poking out too much. Also i wont be dropping it crazy low. Just enough to look nice |

I would suggest you should run a 255/35R18 or a 245/35R18. The 235/40R18 will be stretched quite a bit (if you like that), but it is even taller than the 265/35R18, so really not an ideal size for this wheel and car. See my signature image for an idea. My 245/35R18 have a bit of stretch on 9" wide wheels. So you can guess what a 235 will be like on a wheel that is 1/2" wider. |

Hi Slick and thank you for your answer.
That's because I have searched for this setup and haven't found it that I ask. The only guy saying he has tried it is Slance86 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=47 He had 18x9.5 +38 wheels, stock coilover, and Eibach Sportline on 235/40/18. An wheeldude has the 255/35/18 setup on stock coilover and Eibach Sportline with no issue That's why I asked if someone else has already try this setup because I will try this one in max 10 days, my Sportline springs are already in shipping process. Without any drop, there are no issue at all with my 18x9.5 +38 Rota Grid on my 235/40/18, and I hope Slance86 is right when he says there is no rubbing issue with some drop with Eibach Sportline springs. I doubt but I hope. I got Camber bolts too to see the limit of that setup. Has other one guys, I like the concave it make in that wheel setup. I hope it will be ok because it would be cool to get this setup ![]() Thank you all of you for all your answers on that thread, it's very helpfull |

Another one here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=146 This last poster indicates 4mm clearance so be wary when trying out the camber bolts because you don't have much to play with. I still prefer the 245/35R18 tire but not sure if you will get rubbing from the top of the fenders. Good luck and keep us posted. Send us pics and measurement of clearance if you can. |

Thank you for the link Slick. I will post as soon as I make the test with this setup (wheels/tires/springs) It could help people in the same case. The springs should arrive in a week. What I can say for the moment is that 18x9.5 +38 with 235/40/18 all around fit well with no issue on stock coilover and OEM height with no drop. Keep you in touch with the drop if it causes issue with this setup. |

Advan TC2 17x8.5" in 45 offset
The Advan TC2 are now of interest to me because of their weight and similar looks to my Rotas, plus well and Advan wheel is better quality.
I can't seem to lock down how these would fit. I'm lowered approx an inch to inch and a quarter. Wondering how far these would be tucked in? I think I dislike too tucked as much as too much poke and "really" want to avoid spacers if can for the purpose of running an additional wheel set later. If anyone has some solid thoughts on how 17x8.5" in 45 offset would for being lowered that would be hugely appreciated!!
