It isn't.

I reread my post and want to clarify that part since it's poorly worded. I should've written "Even an M3 *can be* boring when it can't be pushed". I am not saying an M3 can't be any fun on public roads (price and 14MPG aside, I'd rather drive one than the typical econobox).

I am also not saying that you need to constantly floor it or take every corner quickly to enjoy a car. As I wrote previously, it's more about the Miata feeling faster than it really is. That sensation is still present (though diminished) even with the top up.

That's funny, I'm in the same boat regarding the Genesis Coupe. I almost bought a 3.8GT last week but I'd rather get a base model 2011 2.0T and upgrade it myself... Unless the FR-S is all I hope it will be! They need to release this car already. I'm driving a Miata in the snow this winter.

The Genesis Coupe is totally under rated. It's very popular in Canada (Hyundais in general) because the salt destroys our cars so we need a new one every 5 years.

I was considering the gc when they said they wanted the car to be their 240sx/siliva which made me excited but weight numbers for the 2.0T killed it for me (things pretty much same specs as a AWD Eclipse for power and weight) and getting the 3.8 isnt a option for me (I want to be able to tune and heard gc guys where having nightmare problems with the ecu in the v6)

I really would of seriously consider the car more had the update made the car look better but it doesnt IMO

Yea GC are everywhere in B.C. as well but oddly enough the 3 people I know who bought GCs brand new have now sold them

Yeah I found the 2.0T R Spec that I drove to be exceedingly blah.. I've heard that they are easy to build power in, etc but there's still that huge curb weight to deal with in what should be a small lightweight car IMO.

There's no way a car the size of the GC would be lightweight. It's a mid size sports coupe not small size like a FRS.

The base curb weight of the 2.0T isn't that bad for its size. 3290 lbs with a full tank.

If that's what you guys meant then I hope you guys get your shit together and not kill innocent people with your stupid ways. The only cars that makes sense to be pushed to that limit is a city car since they go from 0-60 in 11-13 seconds and make 80-95hp in a 2200 lb body. It would be hard to surpass the speed limit in those cars.
I have no clue what you're getting at here. So you're saying you don't want a high hp car, amirite? I'm not getting why you'd want a FT86, when the 370Z seems to have everything you want: it's relatively light, small and has your favorite VQ engine.

And no, there's not a lot of innocent people chilling on the middle of the road, on secluded mountain roads at night.

You're so right about this part. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out either it's plain and simple.

My point was that the GC should have been a small lightweight car, not a mid size bloated POS.

And 3,300lbs isn't bad for an "sports coupe" with such little HP (stock, modified doesn't apply since you can modify a Yugo to have 500HP and it's still a POS too)? Really?

I have to agree with you here Dave. I think they tried to grab too large a market share with the GC, either make it a small sports car, or a larger, higher powered sporty coupe. Instead, they took a bloated car and put in an engine that just doesn't have enough power to lug it around with the 2.0T.

You clearly missed the point of the 2.0t. Hyundai marketed the thing as a tuner car. And when they drop the GDI engines in next year your point will no longer make sense. It's easy for Hyundai to get power out of the 2.0t. A guy on the forum spent $1,700 on his 2.0t and ran 13.6 seconds from 15.1 seconds stock. I would love to see a N/A 2.0 liter car do that with the same money.
