Their wheelbase is 1.2 in longer than what they said at the TMS. I'm guessing it's bogus. If this is correct the weight and power would be nice, but that wheelbase would be longer than a Supra even though the car is about as big as an S2k.

Because there's no credible source, just like everything else so far regarding the FT-86 that we've heard.

A lot of people keep forgetting that "FT-86" is the name for the concept, not the actual production car. Whatever the concept weighs has some merit to it, but its to be taken with a grain of salt.

And I've said it twice already that waaay back in years long past, when this car was first creeping up in the rumors bin, that Toyota was aiming for a 1200kg, 200hp RWD compact coupe. Whether or not it was factual, I don't know. But people base the 'weight' of the car off that fact alone.

Its nothing new, to say the least. Speculation.

If I'm not mistaken, they were aiming for 1000-1100kg, so If 1200kg is the final weight, I'd be quite content, especially if it is no less than 200hp. Not a gram more though, and I'd be even more pleased for every 10kg lost and 5hp gained.

It was said if the concept was liked it would find its way to production. The way I interpret that is, they had the major dimensions buttoned down by the show. But it's still speculation for everyone I guess.

And liked it was! So hopefully Toyota doesn't go changing up the design (look at dimensions) and purpose of this car. I'd hate to see it end up a sports car in name only, like the new CR-Z.

One of the first things I'm going to think aobut in terms of mods is weight reduction anyway so even if it's over 2600-2700 I can get it down to that #
