Stubbed my big toe on a door so hard today, my toenail came off. Needless to say, I'm in a lot of pain.
Overall, not a good day.

It's not that hard to imagine. They would still be red or pink in color. Depending on the shade of blue, it was darker in the movie that the comics, it might appear lighter or darker in contrast to the rest of her skin. ![]() Damn you Luis. I hate My Little Ponies. My sister gave me a hand drawn picture of Angel bunny as a joke. ![]() Quote:
The sub-forum for stock body parts would be, "Cosmetic Maintenance (Wash, Wax, Detailing, Body Repairs)." Before doing that you might try comparing part numbers online through part stores/suppliers(again if need be). That wouldn't really warrant a thread of it's own unless you're having trouble finding the part numbers and need a picture. |

I think you are badly confused. I believe that if you pursue this line of thinking, this approach, and follow this path that you seem determined to follow, you will live to deeply regret it. Not for least which reason is that you will almost certainly live a life of deprivation, want, and need, not unlike your life today. Only now it will be permanent with little hope of bettering yourself. Today, you console yourself with the idea that your life as you know it is temporary, that you're simply in transition, treading water. None of this counts. You have no idea how easily your current life can become your permanent future, only without your mother. Without the privilege of living with your mom, your life will become far more desperate. There won't be any "units" to bail you out. Life is going to get real, and it's going to be real hard. You will have squandered your one opportunity. Just as your peers have done before you. You appear to see THEM, and all their mistakes with some measure of clarity. You can see cause and effect. Yet now you seem ready, eager even, to repeat the very mistakes that put your peers where they now are. You appear to be thinking exactly like all young people think; you see where that got your friends. That kind of thinking will take you to the exact same place. You must think differently if you seek a different outcome. I thought you had examined your peers, their choices, their lives, and the subsequent outcomes, and determined that you were NOT going to end up like them, NOT be in the same boat with them. Maybe now might be a good time to revisit those thoughts and ideas. Learn from the mistakes of others. Most people don't get multiple shots at going to school for a bachelors degree. Life interferes. You get one chance. Don't screw it up. Like your peers did… Can you build a life-long, stabile, successful career with a reliable, family-supporting income … out of sculpting or anything related to it? It's possible. The odds of success are vanishingly small in the America of today. Such pursuits almost always end badly. And in the America of today, and of the future, the prospects are far worse than ever before in the history of this once great nation. You kids have been handed a lousy deal. What's worse is that you haven't been given any useful skills to deal with the overwhelming problems you face. You kids have been raised (parents, school, and culture) in such a manner that "epic fail" is almost assured. It is sad. I don't want to see that happen to you, Ashley. By the way, it is extremely unlikely that any "college" is going to teach you a damn thing about being an artist that you couldn't have learned even better from your own work, and in a practical $50 class in New York City. You're a sculptor or you're not; no college or university will ever make any difference at all. For heavens sake, get something for your money. Colleges have nothing to offer you in that domain. Learn accounting or something. That way you won't need to hire an accountant to manage your money when you're a successful artist at some later time. I suspect that you have no idea just how close you are to ruining the rest of your life by the decisions you make in the very near future. You youngsters think and live as though you have ENDLESS opportunities for do-overs. Consequences? You have no idea… I think you're asking the wrong questions. Look to a career choice not as an end in itself, rather as a MEANS to an end. Earn money, in other words. Don't look for something to love, so much as find something you don't hate. Find a career that's tolerable and reasonably rewarding, if possible. Boredom is inevitable no matter what you do. That's Life. This will allow you to do your sculpting, buy cool cars, and pursue other interests. Can the illiterate punk in the ghetto make it to the ranks of the National Basketball Association? Millions of them believe they can. They are determined to follow their passion, their calling, their dream. It's possible. The odds of success are vanishingly small in the America of today. Quote:
Again, I urge you to change your focus. This isn't about you. One must judge the WORLD, the one you wish to graduate into. Will it offer you a dependable career with a solid future and decent compensation allowing you to live the life you hope for? THAT'S what needs judging, Ashley, not you. You must rightly judge the correct path to follow in the America of today. This isn't some fairy tale, it's not a romantic movie or novel. You've got to play the hand you were dealt. That means dealing with the realities of the job market in America today and in the foreseeable future. It's a hard-nosed business decision that must be made here. Save your passion and dreams for your pastimes, hobbies, and avocation. Think PRACTICAL for the career that will earn you the money to enjoy those activities. Re-read what Dadhawk wrote; he's right. Were Michelangelo (one of mankind's greatest sculptors) to find himself here in America, and in his prime, I'd advise him to get a practical degree and pursue a career in accounting, financial administration, medicine, etc. Otherwise, he'd starve. Remember, no one is telling you to abandon your dreams; just stop the nonsensical dreaming that you're going to play in the NBA. No you won't, but you'll sure as hell starve if you try. ************** About your car: It's expensive to be poor. ************** Now think in practical terms and put these miserable days forever behind you, Ashley. You can do it, girl. ![]() P.S. If your public schools tracked you into Special Ed (as I suspect) … they were WRONG! My wife sees that all the time, talking to her technical college students. Collectively, public school teachers and admins are a pack of idiots. PM us about that sometime if you're interested, Ashley. |

I stubbed my pinky toe once so bad the entire toe was black & blue. Only time I lost a fingernail was when I broke my pinky finger, and because of the break I didn't notice much pain from losing the fingernail. The Dr. did tell me to keep it very clean though. Apparently the skin under your fingernail is more susceptible to infection. I would put a band-aid...or maybe gauze would be better. Definitely cover it up though when you're wearing socks & shoes. |

Worse thing like that I had was when I was 12 or 13, "exploring" the woods behind my parent's house. Stepped on a cactus and a needle went through my Converses, through the meat of my big toe and out through the top. Fortunately I had a couple of tools on me and was able to pull it back through. My first reaction though was "WTF! I'm in freakin' NC, where did a cactus come from!"
