Wow, I actually asked about this back in June, so to see it working well and explained this thoroughly is very nice.

I hope to be shopping sometime in January, and I doubt the situation will change much from what it is now, so I expect to be joining the >CA crew as well.

My dealer ship my title and tax collected straight to DMV.
1. I walk in DMV and do the registration. Pending for smog and title.
2. DMV received the package and send me a letter.
3. Make and appointment and go back and finish up, walk put with a plate.

My dealer send my paper to my county DMV, luckily I am not going to a different one, you may want to coordinate with your dealer on that.

If people would stop paying over sticker for these cars, there wouldn't be an issue like this. Californians love to waste money...

Mine did. I think if there is a lienholder, they have to send it in to ensure the lienholder is recorded. I have possession of my car for almost a month now and the dealer said they overnighted the paperwork to DMV. I've called DMV twice and it looks like they haven't even reached Dec stuff yet. They told me to call back in mid Jan. I just hope nothing got lost in the shuffle. AND I don't get a hassle from the bank about not getting their info or a fine from DMV for registrating late.

Seriously.

This morning I got an email from Galpin Mazda Subaru in Santa Clarita offering me a used BRZ Premium with 712 miles for $29,465 + tax + license. I don't really want to think about how much the original owner paid for it, then...

Truth. I witnessed someone desperate enough to pay a $5000 mark up at irvine Subaru... Even when the sticker states a $3000 mark up. I face palmed in front of that guy.

It seemed that it helped pay for part of my taxes also. It deducted $622 from the ~$2800 (it says taxes) from my Subaru Finance account. I thought taxes would be paid together along with my monthly payments.

The general advice I have been giving is, if you really want the car asap and can get the car locally for less than $1K over MSRP, take the deal vs. ordering from out of state. Will save you some hassle. But if you can wait, don't mind the little hassle of extra paperwork, and want to pay less than MSRP on principle, then go out of state.
This sounds like great advice! Living in SoCal, I am seeing the pains of finding a car with no markups. $1k over MSRP sounds reasonable for a tad less hassle. Anybody find this type of deal locally?

2 year maintenance is included with all Subarus in SoCal, does anyone know if they follow the synthetic oil guidelines or just use whatever they feel like?

Thanks in advance!

I was at the Ontario Auto Center yesterday. Crown Scion has 9-10 FRS's with no markups...The Subaru dealer in the same center has two unsold white BRZ's...but with a markup...I wish I could transplant the BRZ interior into the FRS for free...

Anybody? I have no idea why no license was so expensive.. I just hope annual renewal isn't going to drain my wallet

First fee is the most expensive. Each successive year drops significantly in price

This is swaying me just to pickup the FRS.

The dirt on the car is from at least 10 different states!

Congrats!
