I'm pretty sure we discussed the shipping cost in the original post - varies from $650-800. From time I signed the papers to delivery at my door was about 9 days. That (and the cost) will vary depending on your location, and when the trucker is available.

The general advice I have been giving is, if you really want the car asap and can get the car locally for less than $1K over MSRP, take the deal vs. ordering from out of state. Will save you some hassle. But if you can wait, don't mind the little hassle of extra paperwork, and want to pay less than MSRP on principle, then go out of state.

Watch out that Dealer Prep fee like $500 - $600 besides the MSrP, that is negotiable.

Extended.warranty is optional and price negotiable too. I bought my extended warranty in CA afterwards.

some additional details on my purchase from a new england dealer. shipping from CT to CA is $1200, which is fair. same price it cost previously to ship a car from MA to CA in 2008, so is fine with me. even with that, i am coming in under MSRP. decided not to get extended warranty; instead i purchased an extended warranty through my credit union at a really great price... so good it makes dealer extended warranty price seem ridiculous. car is paid for, insured, set to arrive december 26. excellent.

Congrats! You can hit the empty canyon roads while everyone is at the after-Christmas sales.

happy to discuss the details of my purchase over pm if anyone is interested. I worked with a guy named Chris L. at bertera subaru in hartford connecticut (not to be confused with the bertera subaru located in massachusetts, which I learned by accident). this dealership had negative reviews online, but I have been very happy with how Chris has handled the negotiation and then the sale logistics so far. I let them arrange shipping, and they found a reasonable price for that. after poking around in ca, nv, co, or, I was amazed at the price I received from these guys. crossing my fingers nothing goes wrong with shipping and car arrives pristine and as promised.

for anyone shopping, do check around the northeast dealerships. nobody is buying these cars in new england during the snowy winter, and they're getting new brz cars in stock before they can move the ones they already have. dealers are motivated to move them. a few dealerships are getting smart and sending their cars to dealerships in high demand areas like florida; if that trend continues, the sick deals out of the north east will dry up a bit, and I suspect the brz market will go to msrp there. come spring/summer, prices will rebound as well. for now though, it's a good time, ESP before year end. some dealers have multiple brz cars in identical model/trim. you can be sure they're annoyed about that and want to fix that.

$622? Mine was $292. ( has been a while so I go back to check my posting in page 1) I think some other owner posted the same DMV fee too. Are you sure?

Has anyone had the dealership that they bought from send the paperwork straight to the DMV? If so, did the DMV contact you once the paperwork went through to either make a payment or sign something?
