Right? I wished my dad would give me a gift. All I look forward on my birthday is work or(and) school.

Personally I would a FRS/BRZ but not as my dd. More of so a weekend car. Friday-Sunday. I would be happy with that.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who works on their bday.

Lol maybe his dad can get him both?
One for the weekdays and one for the weekend

I say get a front-wheel-drive car first. Learn with under steering before over steering. But then again, why does my opinion matter. You will end up getting what you want anyways. That's what I would've done when I was 18... haha

i would say go with the veloster as a first car. Its cheap and fast. The scion is more of a "mature" minded car. Its not for racing at stop lights or on the highway and living every fast and furious dream you have. Its a car for enjoying simple trips to the grocery. Every time i drive it, its a blast to DRIVE. Not go fast, just to drive.

Start with the right platform, stick with the right platform: rear-wheel-drive. I've crashed more front-drivers due to understeer than I have rear-drivers due to oversteer.

How many cars have you crashed? Are you sure oversteer and understeer are to blame?

Plenty and yes. There's an old saying amongst racers: "Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. Understeer is when the driver is scared."

I meant that if you have a track record of wrecking vehicles perhaps it's the driver, not under steer or oversteer.

I think the Velosters look much better in person than in pictures. Pretty cool looking, especially the center exhaust.

Who said I wrecked anything? Crashing does not mean wrecking. You can't become a better driver without pushing the limits. Sometimes you find out where those limits are by crashing.

But back to the topic at hand, the Veloster is a piece of $#!t. The Turbo version is just a faster piece of $#!t. Can we /thread this now?

My apologies, I assumed by crash you meant an accident/wreck.

anyways, I agree with you about the Veloster. /thread

Any new car is awesome first car.
The questions you have to ask yourself, can you respect it enough?
Without question being slightly biased and not feeling the love with the torque steer on the veloster, go with FRS if you not inclined to drag alot of friends in your car.
