Ipothas Whiteout 6MT
Hey everyone, and welcome to my journal. I'm going to try and update this frequently, but without very much $$$ the mods will be coming slow :P
First off, I'll start with a bit of history. Previous to my FR-S, I've owned 2 Honda Preludes, and an RSX Type S. The first After the wreck. I was at a stop sign and was rear-ended by a drunk driver in an F150. Honda engineering truly saved the lives of both my Dad and I. (He was in the front passenger seat.) The second. Personally, favorite car I've ever owned. The handling was amazing, and the engine was adequate enough to have fun in it. The ATTS system in these cars truly made them shine. These cars were actually what got me interested in getting into an FR-S, another true 'drivers' car so to speak. Anyways, after I lost both of those cars, both rear ended by drunk drivers, I got into an RSX. Nightmare car...the k20 may be a good motor, but I stepped into a salvage title POS that was nothing but aggravation and a lot of cash looking for a fix for around a year. I decided to stop messing with it, and saw an FR-S at a local dealer. A few weeks later I bought it. There she is, sitting in the dealership. That's all for now, I'll post more in a bit when I've got some more time! Thanks for reading Last edited by ipothas; 10-23-2012 at 05:09 PM. |

So I decided to paint my stock Scion badges today rather than order Toyota badges.
Not much, but it's a start! I also removed the FR-S badge from the bumper. I think it looks great, and it stands out a bit. I posted a DIY if anyone else was interested in this. Painting Scion Emblem-DIY Future Mods Perrin Pulley Tinted Windows Headlight Overlay (ordered from BlueBat Overlays)

May not be too extreme or important, but I'm trying to stay commited to this journal.
The day I left the dealership I've had my CEL on. I'm not sure which error code the car is actually throwing, but I've got rough idle and crickets under the hood. 579 miles on the ODO. Apparently my traction control and VSC sport mode are not functioning either. I go back to the dealer tomorrow to get all the issues addressed and hopefully fixed. My service manager mentioned completely replacing the ECU. And here's a fun little HDR photo from my phone taken tonight, filling up with the cars 2nd ever tank of gasoline. 93 octane costs WAY too much... While filling up my tank a guy pulled up in a white Panamera Turbo S. He couldn't keep his eyes off my ride I ended up painting the emblems all black, the white lettering just looked cheap and tacky. Up next, headlight overlays Cheers!

I just can't warrant the money for Toyota badges considering I have other mods in mind that I'm much more interested in :P How'd you do yours?

So today I took the the FR-S back to the dealer I got it from to address the CEL. They told me the car is throwing both the P0011 and P0016 codes. I'm not positive what either of them relate to, and they did not tell me.
I waited in the lobby while my service manager told me I could expect a 3 or 4 hour wait due to the fact they had to sit on the phone with Toyota in CA and figure out the problem. They said that because the vehicles are so new, this "problem" hasn't been encountered and the fix could take a while. BS. They also told me that both codes had to do with "timing." They didn't elaborate further. So now I'm waiting until Monday to take the car back, they requested I leave it with them for a few days so they can work it all out. Aggravating

After waiting a few days, I'm due to pick up my FR-S from the dealership tomorrow. I'll post more here when I find out what my actual problem was, and what they did to correct it.

Okay!
Well, I've got my FR-S back now after only 4 business days at the dealership. Here's a photo of the invoice I got back after the repairs were made. Everything seems to be running well now. My dealer was quick and easy to work with, only added 10 miles to the ODO, along with detailing the entire car before I picked it up. So far no dealer horror stories here I also hit 1,000 miles while driving to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Kansas City over the weekend. I also decided to tint my head and taillights with with VHT Nite Shades, which I got for around 14 bucks at O'Reilly's. Here is the tails, with 1 coating of the tint. My Dad, masking off the last headlight. And a few pictures of the final project. I still haven't gotten around to taking some QUALITY pictures of the car. Maybe when I wash it... Anyways, that's all for now. My journal seems so boring compared to these insanely modified threads that are always dominating the first page.I NEED MORE MONEY!!! lol

Dude I like the tinted lights, both front and back.
Do you have any shots you could upload of the lights on? I ask cuz i was thinking about doing this but I don't want it to be a safety hazard if the lights aren't bright enough. I'd imagine some good white HID's with the tint would make it better then stock lights with tint but still....... bit worried about that. |
