On another note: Then this car would be very good for auto-cross and DD? but if u want to use on track or straight line, then ADD more power or better yet buy something else???? Last edited by phenoyz; 12-03-2011 at 12:59 PM. |

It looks like TRD is using the laminova coils to intercool. GM was the first to use these in production on the supercharged cobalt SS and then on the Cadillac CTS-V. They are extremely efficient and able to be very tightly packaged. I was looking at building a W2A IC for turbocharged cars using these as they can handle 150hp per tube.
You say you don't get cool things in AU but the guy that has been doing the bulk of manufacturing ICs using laminova tubes is in AU and has been building intake manifolds with integrated ICs for Toyota diesel trucks. http://www.advancedhbintercoolers.com/ These guys make some pretty cool stuff down under. The laminova cores would be awesome with an SC and make a great small package. I hope this is what TRD comes out with. |

Help me to understand this. I hear people saying how more power like FI would upset the balance of the car or ruin the driving experience.........So if this car was built with drifting in mind, doesn't that mean that people (that had drifting in mind) were going to go FI in the first place??
![]() Bring on the SC!!!! |

Did this whole thread build from the autocar article only?? Or was there some other info, like you know from a credible source? Autocar is kinda known for just making shit up from what I have seen.

PLUS even before this car was unveiled, people like me have always suspected that if they were to ever go FI, it'd be a supercharger. besides the fact that TRD already offers SC kits, it just fits the philosophy of the car. now we have this article from autocar that says exactly that. that Tada dislikes turbos because they dont have the same responsiveness as a mechanically driven SC. so this either confirms our suspicions or some dude at autocar reads what we say and decided to make shit up based on that.... ![]() either way, if TRD doesnt come up with a kit, i will bring a wad of cash and commission one from magnusson or whatever

Who is supplying the supercharger? If it is Vortech we might have a repeat of the mess we had with the tC1.

We could say the same for a roots blower, and indeed, many older roots blower kits came without an IC. Toyota will most likely do a small roots blower with top mount IC -- that's what they've typically done, no? There will be room to grow too, methinks. Smaller pulley, better IC... ooh I is excited ![]() Seriously, this news had me about leaping up and clicking my heels -- this is exactly what I was hoping for! Unless the next gen Z is staggeringly more phenomenal by comparison, my next car will almost definite'y be a SC'd FR-S. |

They just don't run high boost setups. High compression doesn't mean forced induction is impossible, it just means you have a lower margin for error. Which means that a potential OEM setup is especially exciting-since they can tune a bit more reliably than most tuners.

I can see a Rotrex unit being a perfect candidate for this car.

Probably he means, it includes factory warranty.
![]() Well, TRD is just a rebranded aftermarket with higher price.

I'm thinking that is the case, remember there has been a chorus from Subaru and Toyota, including Toyoda-sensei saying "no" to factory forced induction.
