Scion dealerships can change the prices as often as they want as long as the menus in the showroom & the website are updated for each one.

If you come across a dealer that is trying to gouge you by adding "Market Value Adjustment" labels, find another dealer (This coming from a salesman for 10 years at a Toyota/Scion dealer). It may be a further drive for some, but does that greedy dealer deserve your money to start with?

My store has a Hyundai franchise as well and our Hyundai competitors love to add $1,490 to the price for nothing. People appreciate transparency and like that we work off of MSRP instead an inflated amount and are willing to drive past the other dealers to get to us. The one positive thing about these bump labels are that it makes my job easier.

I was in the local ford dealership last week and they had a Boss Mustang Laguna Seca Edition with a 25k Market Value Adjustment because it was model number 299/300. Its a nice car, but not worth that kind of money.

When too many accessories are added, it makes the car more difficult to sell because it lessens the number of people that would be interested in the car. It could be just one thing that someone doesn't like and they won't buy the car so we have to get them one with nothing on it and add the options that that particular customer wants, if any.

Sorry, must be the high demand in miami but Ive yet to see a scion or toyota offered at msrp on the lots I frequent. saw it when my dad bought his tundra in 06, when he bought his taco last year, and when i was in the market for a lease coming off of high school. Ended up buying a used cobalt till I could afford a new car. (Hopefully the frs by this time next year)

2012 tC w/automatic and carpets is $20,544 at 3 scion dealerships near me. Anyone thinking the FR-S will be $22k is dreaming.

Well the auto is like what? +1/2k? Carpets at Scion are expensive as ... and if they do sell the FR-S without a radio and other things that are 'stock' on the tC, I can see them selling it for 22-23k base price.

$184 for carpets and $1000 for auto. I plan on getting an auto, so this price is a good comparison.

Yeah figure the FRS to start at $23k maybe $24k about a grand less than the BRZ premium...which is rumored to start at $24k or $25k.

"Build a car online": I went to the Scion site and "built" a tC. At the end, it gave me a list of dealers to go to. Is that it?

"Buy online": Same as above? Or something else?

In the past, I have had the best experience buying through the Internet Sales guy or what used to be the Fleet Sales guy. In Cali, car showroom floor sales people are the worst.

I agree, the internet sales manager can make deals that other salesman cannot afford to make. I've saved thousands going that route.

I don't know if that is true, but, generally speaking, an Internet Sales guy is a kind of primate who at least knows how to tap on a computer keyboard. The floor sales animals haven't evolved that far yet.
