Anyone have any tips on washing your car in AZ? I tried washing in the evening but no matter what I do I get water spots/streaks everywhere. I've read taking it to auto-washes isn't the best idea for the paint but I'm really considering it if I can't get my car clean

There are filters you can put on your hose. You have to experiment. I don't have this issue, but my car is white and I use microfiber to dry my car so that helps with streaking also.

If you're still getting "mention" tags, Its because you haven't confirmed whether or not you're still going to make it.

Looks like we've got enough for our own run group, assuming every one on the list makes it. We still have plenty of room for more people, the track owners will split the whole group into smaller run groups and just extend the night longer (on track til 11 possibly) so everyone has a chance to get four 20 minute sessions in.
Sorry, didn't see my mentions for some reason. I'm still in.

After I wash and dry my car I do a once over with this. Only way to keep your car streak/spot free with the crap ass water we have.

Wash you car early morning, if you have a air compressor use that for the nooks and crannys around your headlights and taillights and around your side mirrors (these are the major water build up spots for me) ill also keep some quick detail spray just incase I've missed or have to fix a streak. Microfiber clothes are what i use to dry as well

Edit if I'm not being lazy i will fill up a keg with reverse osmosis water and i will rinse my car with that and it drys itself with 0 streaks

Haha you ran into the same problem I had. I would say if you do it yourself, do it EARLY in the morning... like really early...

Me personally, I said **** it. I just get my car washed by these guys:
http://www.azdetailing.com/

They are considered an "Elite" detailer and when you visit their shop, you will know why

They use a triple dilution/oxidation (something like that) of their water.

Park in the shade. Before drying get the car very wet and then use a dedicated towel for the body, as in not one you shower with. This should be washed alone as to not get dirt and contaminants in it to damage your paint.

Wash a portion of the car at a time, such as front to back. This way if it took to long to dry the front you can simply re-wet the rear. The trick is to dry it by hand, not by the air. If its just a small portion use a microfiber cloth that is very wet and squeeze it to get that portion wet, or wipe.

You can also use a squeegee for large pieces such as the roof, and hood. This can be used to "push" the water off quickly, and then quickly use a dry towel to get the rest.

Having a quality wax coat at all times helps, as the water will bead together rather than going into a thin sheet and covering the entire car with water spots.

You can also instead of using water on spots that dried use a quick detailer as that will make the region damp, and then dry with a microfiber cloth.

Thanks! Enkei RPF1 in SBC (custom order only) 18x9.5 +38 (non production sizing, there were ~40 sets made in this size by a few shops).

They poke out quite a bit unless its cambered like that. And i would rather a +42 or +45 offset so i could ease the camber a bit and go with a wider tire personally. But I am more one for more grip & play than park and display. Though I do like how it looks. -0.5 camber in the rear and about 2-3mm more drop on the front would look wonderful if I wasn't eating tires up for fun. :P

Ok cool. I have microfiber towels but this last time I tried to use my leaf blower after watching a YouTube video on detailing, and either I didn't use it correctly or using it in the AZ heat doesn't work well, so will keep using the towels instead. Found a filter on Amazon that I will try out as well.

Awesome, I had this in an Amazon Wish List to potentially buy, so I will definitely order a bottle of it. I'm using their Gold Class car wash shampoo as well.

Thanks! I don't have an air compressor but I do have a leaf blower which works pretty well for that. I tried using it on the entire car but not with very good results. Will look into the reverse osmosis water... never heard of that...

Will try early in the morning... I hate waking up but I hate how my car looks right now even more, lol. As for AZ Detailing... I looked at their pricing page and saw why they're considered the 'Elite' detailer, LOL. That's far too heavy on my wallet to consider, at least for regular washes.

Lol detailing questions finally I have decent knowledge with sharing

First off avoid washing your ride around 1pm to 4pm unless you can wash it under a shade. So it will still be somewhat damp.

How I clean mine before going to show off my car is:

Pressure rinse top to bottom
Pressure rinse the wheels and the area inside.
Washing the tires and rims with 1 micro fiber towel per side. (Double bucket it)
Foam gun the whole car
Pressure rinse
Double bucket with car shampoo using a micro fiber mitt.
Pressure rinse
Use DRYING micro fiber towel per section
Follow up by using black detail spray with a dry micro fiber towel
Then use another clean one to completely dry the car.

Then if I decide to polish and wax, I do that during 2am or 5am so it's cool enough for it to work.

I would add

Wash with car shampoo top then upper sides then use another mitt for the low section of the car sides.

Pat dry not using any side to side motion. A good microfiber cloth with get most water off by just touching the towel. I hold the towel at two points and just touch the car.

This will get 90% of the water off

Only at that point do I dry the remaining amount using a liberal amount of detailer spray. Always want some type of lube if touching the paint.
