Seat rails...
being quite concerned with whether i will fit or not i'm arriving that i'll do what i takes to get a proper fit in this car, because i want it and the alternatives are....well, non existent. anyone have any experience in moving the seat rails back on a car? i'm wondering if this will compromise safety and or other aspects of ownership (warranty, insurance, etc.)? i'm 6'5" with shoes, 6'4.5" w/ out.

Didn't you go to the Scion release and sit in it? I think your height shouldn't be an issue but rather how wide your torso is.

you may not have to move the rails, my celica is almost identical in size and seats are about in the same location in the car... with my seats ALLLL the way back its about a foot to the pedals and im 5'10 youll just be limited to 3 people in you car at any time because there will be no leg room in the rear
on moving the rails.... dunno all i know is if you drill into the wrong support bars, ect you may compromise structural rigidity or some other crap maybe welding the rails further back may be an option, im not sure really... just throwing suggestions

Height wise, based on what iv seen i don't think you will have an issue with this car even at 6'5. But if your wider.....you might have an issue.. Looks like some of the people who did road tests are too snug in those seats and might be an issue with someone with some handles or a long torso where the arms come up to the shoulder guards on the seat.

I'm not too worried about headroom or legroom. I've never felt cramped in a subaru, and they built the chassis, so I'm optimistic. |

short torso, small waist and long legs. my worry is always my knees doing the driving and not my hands. i'll tell you what cars i've gotten out of as soon as i've got in: S2K, Boxster Spyder, Miata, 350/370Z- all wayyyy too small on the inside. perfect cars for horse jockeys. |

all late model Subaru's starting w/ the GH Impreza are very ROOMY cars. I sat in the new '12 Impreza at the auto show and it was supder comfy with the amount of leg and head room. what makes the AS1 different from all other Subs besides the fact that it's RWD is the packaging. given the objective in engineering this car they've moved as much of the running gear as close to the center of the car as possible and within reason. naturally as a result interior space begins to become compromised. for all the other FWD/AWD Sub's the running gear is mostly at the front end of the car, hence the typical/trademark front over hang you find on pretty much every Sub ever made in recent history.
