I can put my phone into airplane mode for more than 24 hours and still play the games on it.

Not all the games.

And the phone was not intended for games primarily. Let me specify

People spend hundreds on smart phones that dont make calls, get voicemails, texts, emails, access the web, play all games, get updates, tell u the weather, etc.. W out being on the network

True. But just the whole notion of MS requiring an internet check every 24 hours for no reason other than DRM crap, makes me sick.

I voted PS4, but probably won't buy either. I have both 360/PS3 now in the house, but its used primarily by my son who will be going off to college in 24 months.

Unless I'm playing with the 3 sons, and maybe sports games, I'm strictly a PC gamer. I hate controllers like I hate zombies.

Right. Im still hoping for a clearer description of these "rules". I cant imagine MS being able to legally proceed with "u bought the xbox for 600$, u bought the game for 60$, and since u lost ur job and cant afford ur comcast bill, we are turning off ur games that u legally own"

That would be like apple saying i cant play my itunes music cause i dont have internet, even tho i paid for the iDevice and the albums....

PS, i dont buy music lol, just an example.

On the upside.. The whole "can share one copy of a game simultaneously with up to 10 family members" is cool

Example: u have 3 kids who game, the house has 2 xboxes, u buy 1 copy of all games, and all 4 of u can play together on 2 split screens w out buying a second copy of the game.

Example 2: u have a brother/sister/cousin whatever, u buy one disc and can play from across the country with all them.

Reference:

"Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time."

E3 press conferences today. I love my 360 to death but I'm not a big fan of the data collection, checking in, used games policy, privacy issues that Microsoft is doing with the XBOne. Really the only tempting thing on the console for me is Forza, and I don't have much issue going back to the Gran Turismo franchise.

I think the poll should be recreated without an "undecided" option after E3 this week. We'll know the launch games by then, hopefully. At the moment I'm leaning heavily towards a PS4+Vita for remote play.

edit: Analysts predict Xbox One price of 400, PS4 price of 350. That's about a hundred bucks lower than I would have guessed. Not expecting it, but I'm hopeful.

Very much looking forward to that. My roommates and I are all gamers, and we can just share games on our "family plan." It will also be nice that, besides "sharing" the game, we can play against each other on my wireless network without all of us having to buy our own copy. This is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Price quoted at $499. Not thrilled, but it comes with a lot of physical hardware. Would rather have seen it more around the 450 or 400 mark, but anything below 400 is incredibly optimistic for either company.

Sony's is tonight at 5 or so. I'll try to catch it after work. Will be interesting to see what they bring to the table.

My games would also be 30% less than console games. And if I wanted to watch anything on the big screen I'll just have it bluetooth'd or hook it up to a projector and watch it.

I'll also have you know after Microsoft released Xbox 1. Microsoft stocks dropped and Nintendo and sony went up. rofl

Honestly, I do have needs for console gaming every now and then. After MS's announcement on used games AND THE FACT that the Xbox1 will ONLY allow you to play offline for 24 hours (1 hour if not on your xbox), it broke the deal for me. Who the fuck do they think they are to do that? Never mind any scenarios regarding internet connection being down for a certain period of time. I bought a console to play games, and not all games should require internet connection.

24 hours of offline gaming before I have to re-connect to play games I PAID FOR on a console I PAID FOR.

I'll probably go PS4. Only, and only if, they don't pull this same Bullshit. If they do, they can all go fuck themselves. I'm sticking to PC. As if Steam wasn't bad enough.

I can't personally think of a time in the last 15+ years when I went without Internet for more than a few minutes. Now that I can stream my unlimited data plan through tethered wifi on my phone, it's even less of an issue. This is 2013. If you don't have an Internet connection, a $500 console should be the least of your worries. Stick to hand helds like DS and PSP.

My nieces like to play my xbox when we go up for a week to my cabin in the woods. No cell. No internet. Not even a land phone line....
