Just stumbled on this thread because my FRONT windows seemed like they were letting in water. Now there's this new problem about potential water problems in the rear of the car! Sure enough, here the plugs are in my hand and not on my car. I'll be installing these later tonight. The saying holds true, if you want something done right, do it yourself.

Holy christ.. I've had my car since June '12 and been driving it through rain, hail and shine (people living in Melbourne would know how shit the weather can get here in the colder months). I'm going to check now see if there is any sign of rust or moisture build up.

I live in the pacific north west and my dealer forgot to install these plugs as well. I came across them one day in the glove box. This of course was after 6k miles of winter driving. I stuck a snake camera up in the holes to make sure there was no rust because we use salt and other corrosive deicer on the roads especially where I work. To my misfortune I found rust inside. The dealer told me they couldn't do anything about it and told me to contact Subaru of America Inc.'s Customer service. Called them and they told me they would contact me so I could email them the videos from the snake cam. And I have not heard back from them. It's been a while now and no phone call return and no email reply. WTF. What should I do?

So I asked the parts guy at my dealership (Toronto) about these plugs and he said the above part number was for something else, and that the correct part number is SU003-02862.

They were called strut plugs or something along those lines and cost $131..each!!

He couldn't believe it either.

Where did you guys order them from and what is the correct part number?
I would like to get these soon and forget about it.

I got mine for free at the dealer. $131 for the correct part seems to be a rip off. Might check with the subie dealer to see what their cost is for the part.

So I finally remembered to check for this and I don't have the plugs in front of the wheels or in the trunk. New 10 series.

I'm really glad I found this thread! I just checked and luckily the grommets underneath the car are installed. However, the plugs that go above the strut are missing. Time to go to the dealership.

So I just checked the dealership and they didn't know what I was talking about. He did however walk me over to check out several other FR-S waiting to be sold and none of them had the plugs. Could it be because I live in AZ and it's so hot and rains so little that Toyota thought they aren't necessary? Maybe it depends on geography?

If I remember correctly, the cars don'e come with the plugs in them from the factory. Installing them is part of the PDI process at the dealership.
