I'm a Hyundai guy; I drive a Tiburon and love it. I'm already mourning my sunroof - I take delivery of a BRZ on July 1st.

When I drove the Genesis Coupe... it is exactly what the name says. It's a coupe version of the Genesis. I found it to be 'big', 'bulky'; but very awesome. But in the end; I just didn't like it.

My 2nd BRZ test drive was just after a rain; it was like Subaru cheated. I got that tail out on a road behind the dealership and there was no way I was going to pass on owning one.

Go drive both; then pick. We can't pick for you.

P.S. First post!
Welcome George!

I test drove the Genesis Coupe also, and something just felt wrong. I couldn't put my finger on it until I read your post. I think it's that it feels like bigger car. I did not know it was the same platform as the Genesis Sedan. That explains a lot. Come to think of it, it drove a lot like the Honda Accord Coupe...

Having owned a 13 Gencoupe for 14 months I can tell you exactly why it felt off.

Little driver feedback through the steering, and brakes. A very vague shifter, and the sheer size of the car vs the twins. What the Gencoupe has going for it in spades is lots of torque below 3K rpms, and more horsepower. The engine is the best part of the car. And even though the Gencoupe seems low to the ground after driving SUV's, other sedans, etc it feels so much bigger than the twins.

IMHO, Hyundai needs to really focus on driving dynamics for the next Gencoupe. Shed some weight. They need a gearbox that can compete with the twins and Miata, and the car needs more precise steering and better driver feedback.

The Genesis isn't supposed to be a sports car like ours, it's more like a Korean pony car a la Mustang.

It's not fake carbon fiber. The "pattern" you see is the Toyota symbol. It's also on other parts of the car, like the instrument cluster.
