It's all relative to what one would consider "work". It took me all of ten minutes to complete. I plan to have the car for years and years to come. I will want to be happy looking at the car daily and the factory big, black antenna is not aesthetically pleasing to my eyes in any shape, way or form.

Ten minutes to remove headliner?? I've never had to do that on any of my cars, but I always figured that it would require removing all the other interior panels....guess not?

It was only a minute or two to remove the headliner. I didn't take the whole thing down as much as reach in to do the work. If you have trim removal tools it makes this kind of work a knack.

It's really annoying they make a "BRZ" part and you lose some functionality being USDM. This is supposed to be a worldwide car yet they do this. I don't have XM and keeping stock unit but still it is just .........

I have a feeling that satellite radio is only popular in NorthAmerica...

That is correct. The satellites themselves are designed to provide NA coverage.

Welcome to Japanese cars.

For as long as I've known them, there is always some difference. Be it as subtle as a simple road flare in the passenger footwell to as extreme as different turbos, interiors, bumper beams, exhausts, rear wipers, etc..

As long as there are multiple markets selling the same cars, there will be a multitude of differences in them.

Please post more info on the Legacy antenna for those of us who don't listen to satellite radio and don't want a giant shark fin. Is it from a 2013? Does it plug into the antenna cable? Got a part number by chance? Thanks

Yep, 2013 color matched Leggy antenna. No, it serves no other purpose than a plug for the roof hole and isn't plug and play to any degree. The other Suby models mostly have their antenna in the rear windshield. I placed the OEM BRZ antenna between the roof and the interior head liner. Nope, I didn't keep the part number but any Suby parts counter should have it readily available with a Satin White Leggy Ltd VIN.

If you need a VIN or part number I can look into it for you.

That would be great. It doesn't need to be functional since I don't listen to the radio at all. I'd need the part number for black and a VIN to use.

PM inbound. Thanks!

Is there any write up of how to remove the OEM antenna with the OEM shark-fin style antenna? I searched for it but couldn't find anything. The shark-fine style antenna looks badass

Thanks,

You will remove the headliner (I just pulled it back enough to get my hands in there.), Disconnect the harness and remove the mounting nut. Voila you're done! Install in the reverse. Pretty simple.
