Have you seen the spyshots of the actual production car? It's fucking hideous. That concept was AMAZING. The actual car? Not so much... If anything I'd think it'll drive UP the resale value of older WRX's. I'd rather buy one of those than what I'm seeing so far.

I expect our cars to hold up value much better than the STI
Not over here (Then again I can only speak for New York) , I tried forever to get a good deal on an STI. For example a good condition 7X,XXXmi 06 STI will still sell upwards of 20k. You can still find some with 3X,XXX selling for upwards of 25k. Was about 37k fully loaded here so for it to only depreciate 12-17k in 7 years..... gah... good if you own one, bad if you don't and want one.

All the spy shots I've seen so far are of the '14, not the '15. I doubt they have any '15s driving around yet, at least not with anything resembling the final body style.

Most redesign years drop the value of the old model faster than a year to year change. Ie the 2012 WRX didn't change the resale of a 2011 very much. Just the normal "$2-3k drove it off the lot" hit. But the 2008 model was a new gen, so it probably dropped the 2007 model pretty heavy at first.

Assuming the 2014 model is the next gen (who knows) - the 2013's stand to drop a bunch if the next one is that much better than the current. Right now you can get VIP pricing of a new '13 hatch under $25k. I'm seeing used ones with asking prices over that. If the '14 is a new gen, I'd expect '13 resale to drop below $25k.

Depends also on the price of the '14. If they come out at $2k higher than similar equipped '13, then the '13 could retain more resale.

It's speculative, but you have to remember that you're just speculating how much loss you'd recognize if you sold a year later. It's going down in value next year, no question. Just by how much. If you don't plan to sell anytime soon, it's a non-issue.

I found a double digit mileage super clean '03 (yes, I mean as in 40 miles!) and I snatched it up for $24k! That was back in 2003... but I still have it. Ok, not as clean and not as low mileage any more - but the amount that car has depreciated hasn't been much of an issue. In fact, all WRX's seem to hold a certain floor value - much better than many other cars on the market.

I really hope that's the case.
