Anyone else running Wilwood?

Just installed the Wilwood 6 piston front BBK. Figured the vast majority of the braking is in the front of the car so I didn't bother spending the money on the rear kit that adds (theoretically) very little to the actual braking ability to the car. Went with black calipers and slotted ONLY rotors, no cross-drilling to avoid any risk of cracking.

Initial impressions: brakes grab IMMEDIATELY better than stock and seem to stop shorter. Haven't really gotten them cooked up yet, but I'm sure fade resistance will be improved. They are a couple pounds lighter than stock so the steering response for the car has improved as well (less unsprung weight).

So here's my question. Anyone else do this and notice a clacking sound under hard bracking only? My install guy figured it was the edges of the non-beveled pads that wildwood ships with the kits so they beveled the pads but the sound was diminished but still present. Anyone else get this?

Every car i've put slotted rotors on has made that sound. I've got Wilwoods on my race car and they make that sound, as well as my old RSX which had slotted rotors.

I have front and rear Wilwoods. The clacking sound is normal and it will go away after a 100 or so miles of regular driving.

The feel of the brakes "grabbing immediately" is not due to the caliper kit but the increased friction properties of the pad compound. Many people think that a bbk will shorten stopping distances when most of the time, they actually increase it.

Can you expand on this?

Primary purpose of bbk is to reduce fade due to repeated heavy braking. Larger rotors and increased area dissipate heat better.
