I was set to dump my iPhone 4S for it.

Then I found out that the Samsung bloatware takes up 9gb.

I started thinking...maybe I can live with it, if I get a 32gb version. Except, there ARE no 32gb versions in Canada, and will not be from the looks of it.
If that's your biggest worry, why not just get expandable memory?

In any case, the S4 is a great phone in terms of hardware and software, but when you convert over to Cyanogen, I don't believe it'll retain any of the Samsung features, to which you would then just have a really expensive Nexus 4 with a nice screen.

I disabled all of the bloatware on my S4, why anyone would pay for anything related to the NFL is a mystery. Verizon must be stupid. One of the bloatware items is an NFL game app.

CM frees up around 3gb compared to the stock rom (leaving you with about 12gb free on a 16gb device, vs 9gb on stock).

samsung is responsible for some of the included bloatware, verizon others. but samsung is responsible for the 'bloat' of touchwiz itself. of course without that 'bloat' you lose features...

aaaaand my screen is shattered -_- so much for Gorilla Glass 3. Case didn't help either, since the point of impact/shatter is right at the button. Ah well, at least I can get a replacement. Definitely get the extended warranty if you still can!

They aren't going to come after for you having the iso's for 15 year old games. Even the NES and Genesis game files are pretty much a freebie now. A lot of these games are long out of production so the companies could care less now.

Which is the same as an unlocked unsubsidized iphone 5 with 16GB. That's how much phones cost. Consider it has expandable storage and it's one of the best deals on the market.

I'm considering the "google edition" HTC One though, that'll be $600 from the Play store. Decisions decisions...

Or the $350 unlocked 16gb Nexus 4 from the Play Store. I still find it ridiculous that hardware manufacturers are charging $300 more for a slightly larger screen, LTE support, and an SD slot.

Didn't read this whole thread but I made a post about this earlier.

I found that phones with the very latest version of Android (4.2) actually had less things displayed on the headunit than those with older versions (<4.1). The older versions would display more info like a progress bar, and the current playlist.

Hopefully Google plans to add more support to Bluetooth audio playback.

You're absolutely right, the best bang for the buck IS the Nexus 4, but Google is subsidizing the cost of the unit, it would probably be closer to $450 or $500 if LG were to sell it for a profit. Top tier phones have ALWAYS been in the $600+ price range, back to the first iphone ($600 for the 16 GB model, $500 for the 8GB), and if you go overseas very few people buy subsidized and pay the above prices without much complaint.

You also have to realize we're comparing flagship phones with the latest and greatest hardware available to a device that wasn't even using top tier components when new, it was only marginally better than the Galaxy S2 that came out over a year prior (and to some WORSE seeing as the SGS2 has removable storage, removable battery, 1080p recording, and LTE). Nexus 4 is an amazing phone and if you want a top of the line smartphone experience that is without a doubt the cheapest way to go.

Android is great because of this: choices :happy0180:

It's a good time for mobile users, SGS4, HTC One, Nexus 4, Nokia Lumia and iphone are some of the highest quality products ever. Not to mention their previous iterations are floating around for much more reasonable prices without sacrificing quality.

Thanks for the info! I didn't search because I thought this just may be a limited issue. Do you know the reasoning behind them limiting display info over Bluetooth? I assume security issues?
