All good bro, I ended up getting a Maxracing Duct instead of making something.

See HERE and HERE for pics.

And for the record I have been driving it in all sorts of weather from hot and dry to torrential rains and there is no evidence of water getting into my air box but my filter was a little more dusty than i would have expected.
