Had a great time up in Sacramento at Mather Airport/AFB at autocross today. Met up with another 86 owner/forum member who also ran in the same class/run group. Travelled there alone, and really enjoyed the drive up and back to Modesto with A/C versus the past years in a hot, turbo'ed heatsoaked car. Although I am still on the goofy all-season tires from Bridgestone, I feel like that I am learning to drive this car progressively better and better.

There's another event tomorrow, and it looks like it'll be the last at that venue, I can't make that one though. The airport wants to tighten up a bit, I guess.

I'm thinking maybe we are trying to plan this to fast. I'm going to be busy today, but I'll start checking out roads and trying to pm some of the Modesto peeps to c how far they would be willing to drive for an event. I don't typically have a lot of time myself usually end up with about one day off a week, anywhere between Sunday-Tuesday. Granted I don't have work those days I still ended up tending to the house and dogs and running tons of errands. I'll c what I can come up with, if I find something that looks interesting but not able to check it out myself I'll post it up here and c if someone can check it out. We'll take our time and make a good event. :happy0180:

Well i was thinking about posting a poll for us to see how far all of us are willing to drive so that we can figure out a good area to setup.... but idk how to make a poll lol. Was thinking the minimum distance would have to be about 45 miles which would be Fresno/Modesto to Merced, and maximum would be no limit, anyone know how to make one of these or want to do it?? Chose Merced as an example because it's basically the place in the middle. next would have to be about 100 miles which would be Modesto to Fresno. Just thought this may be a good idea to figure out where we'd have the most success for setting up a meet. :happy0180:

I'm not sure if I missed this in this thread or elsewhere, but what are we considering the "cencal" area? Stockton to Fresno? Sac to Fresno? Maybe we should start there if we haven't already. Once that is established, if it isn't already, we could all throw out areas that we've driven and think would be a great drive to share. We could set up meets at half way points....like if the group is Stockton to Fresno, we could meet in half way. Again, sorry if this has been talked about already but I haven't seen this conversation happen yet. I have several drives that I think would be great to share with you all but most are in the hills. Just drove Hwy 49 yesterday starting in Auburn all the way to 88. I've also mentioned a drive starting in Georgetown that takes roughly 2.5 hours and leaves you 23 miles from Tahoe on 50.

So please let me know if I've missed something or not and lets go from there, yes? Look forward to the replies. Hope all you cencal peeps are staying cool. It's hot as hell in Stockton but I've got the garden hose to keep me cool and Mojitos to keep me happy....Cheers

LOL I've always called the Valley the armpit of Ca. I like your thinking but I'm not sure I would ever drive all the way to Bakersfield for a drive. That seems like a stretch. Fresno is good though.

it's pretty easy to set up a poll. Start by creating a new thread... then at the bottom check the box to add a poll. Also you need to know how many choices/answers you will have on the poll. Then when you submit the thread then it will let you set up the poll.

When we planned our big Spring NorCal meet, we did two separate polls... first a decision as to where. Then a 2nd poll with proposed dates. But that's for a big meet, if you guys just want to throw out a time and place for an informal meet and see who can make it, that's easier just give people enough notice so that they can try to make it.

Yea, not trying to leave anyone out at all, didn't really have a lot of time when I put that earlier and was just thinking Stockton was pretty close to Modesto so it was kinda like the same area lol. :happy0180:

I guess we should figure our what classifies as central cal, and then just do a small mini meet so everyone can get to know each other a bit better. I think once we do that we can really start to figure out how we'll go about planning a bigger meetup.
