I would wait for the 2014 model, assuming that you can't get a 2013 for a very good price during clearance.

Go for the '14. Subaru will have all the little flaws fixed.

I had all my condensation and engine problems fixed via the dealer, so I'd assume they have most issues worked out. Then again, Subaru has already clearly stated that they are not going to "look into" why so many engines and ECU's are malfunctioning.

Late 2013 and early 2014? I don't think it'll make too much of a difference. You really think Subaru would keep putting in flawed parts on the 13 and then when they start producing the 14 they put the right parts in? I don't think so. They fix as they go so most of the bugs should already be taken care of by now. As far as the 14, I don't expect any changes honestly.

Just buy it...if you can afford it. You won't be disappointed.

Rear back up might be a possibility since I keep hearing it's going to be required for all 2014 models.. *shrug

That is exactly my question and it seems nobody has a definite answer, which is understandable. I've read on multiple forums that orders can be placed starting 6/3 and that deliveries are expected in September/October. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30388

I'm meeting with the dealer this Saturday. I'm going to really pretend to be interested in the 2014. I plan to use this as a bargaining chip to hopefully get a solid deal on a 2013 on the lot. Regardless, I'll wait until Monday to make my final decision and hopefully I'll be able to get some real information on Monday. I will report back whatever I hear, keeping in mind that it's coming from a salesman. But if they can place orders, they have to know some changes or at least the price (which would only provide more speculation, yay!)

Also, will the VIN tell me when it was produced? How many BRZs have been made and how can I tell how recent one is purely by the VIN? If it's a late 2013 then I imagine it will have the proper changes ...if it's an early/mid than I assume it might have a few of the original issues. Am I over-thinking this? Maybe I should just pull the trigger.

According the the chart we have, 2014 Legacy and Outbacks could be ordered on 4/1, but pricing was only announced on 5/20.

Also, backup cameras are not mandated for model year 2014. Calendar year 2014 (ie. Sept 2014) was previously planned to be the 100% requirement date, but that's not the current plan.

Well the BRZ put me under it's spell during the test drive. I just couldn't say no. It was manufactured in February 2013, so I'm hoping a majoring of the kinks were worked out and the production was partially changed as they found issues. I didn't notice a chirping and the tail lights seemed dry even though it was raining. Shifting into 2nd is surprising smooth, even for a MT noob like me.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it helped me pull the trigger now and I think it was the right choice. I got a solid deal and doubt I'd be able to wait until the fall to start driving it.

I got a MT Limited WRB, like everyone else it seems haha. WRB just looked too good to pass up. I would have picked SWP as my second choice except I'm in Chicago and I feel the snow would dirty it up fast, altho I plan on avoiding it obviously. I think the stock wheels look best on WRB despite popular opinion.
