You misunderstand. Harsh is that it cuts RPM before resuming any sort of engine power, so it feels like you are slowing down. A soft limiter is more forgiving and just holds RPMs.

i dont see a reason to hit the rev limiter, Most dyno graph shoes that 6500ish is wear we get max power.

What about the next gear? You have more available power if you shift later because it puts you higher in the power band.

Autocrossing and tracking often require you to hold the limiter. When you hit the limiter mid slalom, you don't shift at that point.
You dont want to shift .5 seconds before a braking zone either.

in autoX it isnt about power. some say shifting gear cost 3 to up up and back down. being able to hold second gear for 1 second longer and deal with the lack of power is often times quicker than going to 3rd |

I didn't say it was all about power. I simply made a statement.

I can agree with harshness. I drive AT and I can bounce limiter then shift on 1-2 shift and chirp tires. Only very few times though. It scares me....

rev limiter is definitely harsh, like jarringly harsh. Luckily yes the best shift point is after 6500 rpm, after that you're just noising yourself to redline.

Bump, anyone have any more info? I've done a bit more research and it definitely seems like i have a soft limiter. I always have trac disabled while doing my runs.
