I was going to wait... I am most likely picking up a BRZ Limited today.. I would look into getting into an higher horsepower/torque STI version down the road if/when an STI is released. I don't see a true STI version for 2014, so it will most likely be 2015 at the earliest.

And if it doesn't, well then I won't consider one!
You are sorely mistaken. It will be a further modified Impreza platform; divergence is in name only. FHI does not have the capital or resources to create an entirely separate platform for the WRX.

If you are expecting something like the 2015 WRX concept, you will be so disappointed.

http://blogs.automotive.com/spied-ne...ar-134625.html

When I was looking for brz, my brother in law kept convincing me to get a WRX. More power, roomier interior, etc. I closed my eyes and looked at the brz again.
No! I'm getting my brz!

I don't think an STI will exist for the BRZ. Ever.

Or at least not one with a significant performance increase over the base model.

To whoever posted that youtube clip, do you know what a testing mule is?

Perhaps I should have phrased it differently. It will still use the same platform but won't share any body panels with the Impreza. Nor will it any longer be called the Impreza WRX, just WRX.

If it was really just going to be a "beefed up" Impreza it would already be out. The current gen Impreza has been out almost 2 years; Subaru pushing the current WRX with it's outdated interior and crapbox 5 speed manual is doing nobody any favors.

But, that's me being...

Can anyone tell me why the thread title says "Poll" and yet, I see no poll to vote on?

Being called just a WRX is true. Having the WRX made the Impreza chassis itself more expensive to produce since the WRX required certain things that the Impreza never needed. I suspect it will very similar to previous iterations; that is, drastically overstyled on top of the same underlying sheet metal as the plain jane model. The only difference this time around is that it's "not" an Impreza.

As to the second part: false. I suspect there's a good reason the WRX wasn't released with the current Impreza as a "beefed up" Impreza. Check it: new Impreza doesn't use the EJ engine that the WRX uses. They likely wanted to develop a turbo DI engine off the FB/FA iterations FIRST, THEN stick it in a chassis built around that engine, THEN call it the WRX.

Supa edit: It's logical to think about it in this manner; FHI was already working with Toyota on the twins so they were getting experience with DI. They need DI to survive in this world, so once they learned how adapt DI to their existing FB architecture the FA was born (using Toyota's D4S). Using this knowledge, Subaru developed their own DI system (see Japanese models) and then went further to create a performance engine by turbocharging it. We're just waiting to see that engine dropped in the proper chassis now.

Depends. If sales start to slack and enough people would be willing to pay for an STI version (and I believe there is a market) then I think Subaru/Toyota will bring something to market.

That said, I don't see it being a 300hp+ monster. I expect it to have about 250+ horsepower at the most.

Still, you could be right and Subaru may simply not want to crossover to WRX STI sales.

That's not a mule, it's a camoed pre-production demo. But believe what you will.

since i already purchased BRZ, i wouldnt trade it for STI. i will rather buy aftermarket parts and upgrade. if i didn't buy BRZ, then i would consider STI version if upgraded parts and price are reasonable.

BRZ and WRX STI are both two different Cars....

BRZ = 2 doors, RWD
WRX STI = 4 doors, AWD

Every Sport car Enthusiast love 2 doors COUPE. Only Sport car Enthusiast with Family and KIDS will go for the WRX STI. The Minority of people who want a good affordable AWD Sedan in the winter will go for WRX version.

So if there was even BRZ STI, I love it, but I will have to go for WRX STI, because I have kids, and other people with family will do the same

***Note to BRZ STI***

If you come out with BRZ STI anything close to 38k.....People will buy a C7 Corvette. That is my point of view, both are RWD Coupe and 2 doors

BRZ limited is already 28K. BRZ STI probably 32k? Thats 7K over an FRS for a few ammenities, body kit, and a small performance boost. Probably not down unless FIed.
