I got down to a 2:33 (theoretical 2:32 based on my best sector times) but it was very cold and I think most everyone was quite slower than their typical times (3-6 secs depending on the car/driver). I was also driving to 9/10ths learning the limits of the tires and playing a bit with their pressures.

Tires (Conti Extreme Contact DW) are fantastic in the wet, great in the dry with very predictable breakaway. The wider tires didn't hurt either.

The Eibach ProKit springs made a huge difference to the balance of the car, it is sooooo nice now with perfect balance (for me at least). Very good grip out of corners now with the softer rear springs (no more corner-exit drifting).

One thing I learned that was pretty surprised about was that it appears I have too much camber.
I am running -2.2 all around, measured tire temps and the inside of the tire was much hotter than the outside, indicating too much camber. Typically this would not be that much camber, but with the stiffer springs and our car with such a low centre of gravity, there is not much lean, so less camber is needed than your typical car at the track.
That's pretty good times, Andre. Some of the guys were as much as 6-7 seconds slower than their regular lap times last year. I assume it was due to the cold temps on Friday. So, the next time you're up, I expect to see high 2:20's, for sure.

Interesting about the camber, but I bet you're right. With my PDI, I asked for as much neg camber as they could get. I didn't get to see the specs though, so I'm not sure what they got.

Yeah, stock camber is 0 so if they maxed it, you "might" get -0.25.

I think a stock suspension FR-S could probably use more camber than one with stiffer springs, but I was really surprised at the tire temps, as -2 is really not that much normally.

As far as laptimes go, I was doing 2:38's last year on crazy hot days, and managed a 2:34 on a cooler summer day. I think I would have been closer to the 2:40's on stock stuff for sure.

I'm surprised about the camber too, Slick. Thanks for sharing!

The past weekend I was down in Picton for my first Solo2 event of the season. The local club is smaller than MCO so they just divide cars into 4 classes. For some reason they put me in SP (Street Prepared) although my car is completely stock except for the tires. Oh well, I was just out there to get some seat time and knock off the winter rust.

For those that don't know about it, the St. Lac club's Picton events are held at the old air force base. Some nice long, wide runways in which to build up some speed!

Tried my best to uphold the honour of the FR-S and came in third overall, second in class. Dave in his modified F-body Camaro beat me in SP by 0.226 sec (my best run was faster, but I hit a cone, sigh) and of course both Dave and I were behind Sergio in his red beast:

Good fun, friendly folks, and worth the drive down there.

Now that the Senators are out of the playoffs, I hope MCO will soon be able to negotiate dates for our Solo2 events here at ScotiaBank Place.

Picton is in my back yard. I knew that Armdrop had drag racing events there, but I wasn't aware of this. Cool.

Yup, St. LAC runs events there and at Shannonville. The regionals being held this weekend should be fun -- if the weather cooperates. Even if you aren't thinking of driving, pop over and say hello.

Here's their schedule for this year: http://stlac.ca/competition/autoslalom-2013/

I may just do that. Thanks. What time does the event start/finish?

There's been some conflicting information, but I believe registration opens at 8:00, drivers' meeting is at 9:30, and first car away at 10:00 am. For this event there's no lunch break, so it will keep on running until about 3:30 or so I expect.

I'll be happy to give you a ride on one of my runs if you want. It's always more fun from the inside. Other folks will usually be glad loan you their passenger seat too, until maybe the last couple of runs in the day when they're trying to slice off the last couple of tenths.

Thanks! Are the springs and camber bolts the only suspension mods you've done? Where did you buy the springs and get them installed?
Camber bolts are $5 each at your favourite Subaru dealer. I can get you the part number if you want.

I bought the Eibach springs along with the tires from the TireRack, about $219 iirc. I installed them at home in 5 hrs. Then of course an alignment from Ralf and Phil at CTC Carling.

That's it for suspension mods. Next year I would like to try out some Koni inserts.

Great, feel free to drop by and see what it's all about.

If anyone is interested in MCO's advanced driving school (good prep if one is thinking about trying Solo2 events) it's now confirmed for June 8th. Details here: http://www.mco.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15343

Is this the part number?
Subaru part # 901000394 or Toyota/Scion part # SU003-02818

Thanks
Yep, those are them! Go to the Subaru dealer and save yourself a few bucks, I'll bet they are more pricey at Toyota/Scion.
