I doubt the E10 is affecting the filter. There would be a mass recall coming if that is the case.

Work blocks the pictures.
Why would there be a recall, the recommended gas is 93 octane ? They cant recall because somebody put snicker bars in their tank.

For the sake of argument I went and cut my factory filter housing up. I have 4k+ only E85 Miles basically. I have no signs of any degredation to the filter. Now it is true that over time the paper gasket will now allow heavy enough flow for the E85. I haven't run into that scenario yet. It can't be a sitting issue either because mine sat the entire winter here. I wasn't able to put many miles on it.

Have you been/or ever have used an octane booster in the car? Fuel Supplement Additive? It looks crystaline in that picture. E85 is not going to cause that.

I have pictures of my filter and it looks nothing like yours, and doesn't show the slightest sign of any issues yet. My car sat all winter with

Lets discuss further

Just as I expected..

I wasn't surprised for one second when your filter looked like this.

Man, I'd lay low till this is figured out if I were you. Flex fuel cars use stainless mesh filters. I *assumed* this car did the same as I'm sure everyone else did. I'm assuming that if anyone had an idea that this car had cellulose filters they would've recommended they be changed before running e85 or it may turn into a negligence issue.

Just to throw this out there---did any of Toyotas other designs come with D4s featuring flex fuel usage? Might be worth it to look and check parts cross-compatibility. I Googled for a little bit and didn't find anything.

I use a Magnafuel 7008 with a cleanable element on my E85 scoob. It doesn't look easy to mod and fit in your fuel pickup, though.

psh.. i'm not afraid of blowing my motor on E85. I'll keep running it until I do too.. a few fuzzy pictures from a heavily tracked car isn't enough to scare me. Gott PAY to PLAY!

7K E85 miles & counting....

And thanks @Don@Accelerated for cutting up your filter!

Nothing to lay low from.

I have several cars running this type of filter with no issues.. my Subaru included !

Not saying there isn't better filters out there

This was looked into back when I first started offering Ethanol Calibrations.
