stock speakers are nice... works great with the bespoke unit.. just have to adjust the equalizer... i know i can get more out of the stock speakers with a better head unit that i will be getting later on.. but for now its good..

Driving this car is like riding a motorcycle, it provides it's own soundtrack. Windows down, listen to the car and the world.

The stock speakers are absolute crap IMO. Has anyone seen them out of the car? They weigh in at 191g!
That they make any mid range bass at all is frankly amazing. I ditched all my OEM stuff (I have a GT86 so touchscreen and 6 speakers. I replaced everything). But, if you think the front speakers are bad, try fading to the utterly useless rears. I'm sure Toyota spec'd them just to say they have a 6 speaker system.

While the oem in this car are complete crap, they do sound better off the Bespoke than base headunit. |

I was talking to @Moto-P at one of our meets the other day. He told me in Japan they come standard with 4 paper speakers and a crappy head unit. He said the aftermarket radio shops over there are having a field day with all the 86's coming in for speaker/radio upgrades.
After hearing that I can appreciate what we have now. lol |

I know weight doesn't matter, but they really are suprisingly light, being almost entirely plastic. They just look and feel cheap. The magnet must be tiny.
Yes, I would agree a better head unit does make a difference. Even the Toyota touch screen isn't very good. I admit, I didn't bother with rear speakers when I had an install done.

When at driving speed, I don't need the precise crisp nature of a Klipsch or anything. I put a big subwoofer in the back, messed with my settings to balance everything well, and am entirely pleased with my setup. The only rattles I have were from the trunk deck lid because of the bass, which I cured with some sticky foam inserts that cost less than $7. No door rattles or any other issues that I've noticed on my car. Clarity and volume are both adequate for daily driving. I need to feel my music, and when fighting with engine noise, road noise, and wind noise, as long as I can hear adequately and can feel the bass, I'm generally satisfied. Because without completely deadening the ENTIRE car and spending thousands replacing every factory element, I'm not going to get a sound like what I have at home. So why stress? I'm happy with my setup.

The rattles come from the door speakers trying to do too much. You add a subwoofer (like the 8" included in the OEMAudio+ 400 system) and it allows the new DSP (also included with the OEMAudio+ system) to send less bass to the door speakers and like magic, no rattles. The power window switches are another story.

Man, listening to these people rag on the FR-S stereo. My FR-S base system is awesome to me! Try the 25 year old 4" paper speakers in the front dash and rears all non-enclosed in a 87 Corolla. The headunit is butt ugly, but functionality is good. Love the BT and all the buttons I can navigate without looking at it. Same with the A/C controls. All within easy reach and easily operable by feel. Better EQ control would be nice, but I can live with this for now. I do NOT want touch screen. Hard enough operating the multi function single knob in my other aftermarket headunit in Corolla on the krappy roads here.

I put in a pioneer touch screen and it changed the sound so much for the better, I'm not sure if I need to replace the speakers.... Night and day difference!
