stock speakers are actually pretty decent

i purchased my frs in January 2013 with no upgrades or add on. fun to drive and love the ride but didn't really like the stock head unit. although the functions (blue tooth, hands free, etc) works well on it, it lacked aesthetics. until last week i bought a used bespoke head unit from a fellow club member and installed it. this head unit really made the cars interior look a whole lot nicer. after installing the bespoke head unit, first thing i noticed was the drastic change in sound coming from the speakers. i have played with the sound settings with the stock head unit, but never have i had the speakers sounding any better than it is right now with the bespoke head unit. the speakers are now really bumping and kicking making my commutes much more enjoyable. not the best sounds, but it does take it to a whole new level!!

i feel like scion gave us a pos stock head unit in attempt to get us to spend more money and purchase their "PREMIUM" bespoke head unit or other various after market head units. but imo the bespoke is not worth the price theyre asking for and it should have came stock with all the frs. if it wasnt for the price i got the bespoke for, i wouldnt have ever gotten it especially for the msrp price and would have purchased something else outside of oem products. i feel like scion is playing us a fool! but then again, its just my 2cents, so who really knows what theyre thinking

Agree. Stock speakers are actually pretty good once you get something to drive them correctly. The oem audio 400 takes all the rattle out and makes it clean as hell.

Throw two 12" Subs in the back with a 1000 watt amp and your car bumps. Amazing investment. If the car alone doesn't turn enough heads, an amazing stereo system with some extreme bump definitely does the job haha.

I've already blown out three of the stock speakers. It's literally the worse I've ever had on a car.

Haha oooh alright, well here are my two 12's in my sub box. The box is actually made to fit in convertible mustangs, because our trunks are so small, this is all my local Electronics shop could get in. (Sorry for the junk in the trunk)

Just wondering, are the two stock speakers in the rear really really REALLY quiet?

It was like that when I bought it... not sure if they are already gone bad...

They are tiny and in a massive cavity. They don't do much.

kinda lazy to take pictures of my car atm, but i will when i get a chance

meanwhile, you can just google the interior with a bespoke head unit and one without use for comparison. its nothing different than any other interior.

i felt the rear speakers were extremely weak with the stock head unit. and after the bespoke head unit, i feel the sound to be more balanced from the front to the rear. overall a greater experience in sound being provided by the frs.

Maybe it's all relative, personally, aside from the ghetto looks, the base stereo is actually one of the best OE systems that I have had. If set properly, it has decent punch. Okay, it isn't a reference system, but, I have had far worse.
