I go for random drives all the time. Have for years. Also I deliver tofu around the mountain at night

Been doing that a lot on the weekends and just driving anywhere, and finding excuses to go somewhere during the week just to go out for a drive. Never done that with any other car I have owned. Love the car!

If I had a dollar for every time I went on one of these random drives well ... I'd have enough for a tank of gas.... lol.
I agree with a lot of whats been said here. Lots of coming up with excuses to drive it. Almost feel like I get urges to drive it if I haven't within a 24 hour period. Addiction? |

Used to take the car out every day after work for a 1hr spin at a nearby mountain. Good way to unwind.
Now it gets pitch black by the time I get back from work so haven't been able to drive for the past 2 months. Withdrawal is a bitch... |

I find the dumbest reasons to drive. Yesterday I needed milk and there is a CVS literally 1/8th mile from my house. Ended up at a Wal-Mart that was about 20min away lol. I live in Phoenix so there aren't many fun roads to drive that are close by. I ended up in the Sonoran Desert last weekend though. A good 180+ mile trip and found some pretty awesome roads out there.

I bought the car in hopes of using it as a coping skill --going for drives into the country and what not. So far (only ~1100 on odo) I am feeling so much anxiety about going out alone that I haven't gone on a single solo joy ride =\. I have taken friends out in it twice but for some reason there are not very many takers for a trip somewhere pretty. Working in mental heath has taught me that I've got a lot of anxiety problems. Anyone had this issue and gotten over it? (I've obviously got to just suck it up and go for a ride but it messes me up so much to think about it that I feel unsafe behind the wheel.)
All in all I still love the car and know that someday I'll find some way to enjoy it the way those above have =) **Now that I think about it: every time I get in before work I'm calm and collected, ready to take the day. Every time I get in after work the mindfunk of the day just slips away. I guess even a 5-mile commute has the ability to make a difference.** |
