They have to still warranty you, especially if you're only installing the exhuast! A manufacturer can't just "void" your warranty unless they can prove the part is the reason the problem occurred.
My .02 - get an aftermarket exhaust setup, and either the TRD CAI (I've heard good gains from these, but expensive) or just a drop in filter for $100 and call it a day. If you have to take it in for warranty work the only thing they can reasonably deny is exhaust work. EDIT: Also I recommend a Unichip if your seriously worried about warranty. You can just disconnect it when you take it in. Its ~$500 and gives you a good 10-15 hp gain. |

You are mixing some stuff up, maybe I posted too quickly. I know what the TRD exhaust makes in power. When I said I didn't have first hand experience is on the LISTENING in person the tone of the exhaust. So yes, it is still true the TRD parts are overpriced and don't produce the same numbers as the top performers (in this case its not a big deal or difference, but for example when TRD has come out with SC kits, it is noticeable when compared to other options in the market, hence the reference to other parts not available in the FRS). The respect part was respecting his decision to go with TRD even though he knows its overpriced because he values his warranty. No backtracking and my opinion still stands. OP was not butt hurt, you shouldn't be either.... But we are off topic and going in circles. Besides, my opinion is only worth 0.02 cents

Yes, it is expensive for what you get but if you are sweating the warranty than this is the way to go. I haven't heard anyone regret their purchase.

Main downside is, if your not using a professional unichip tuner (there are some local) your most likely not going to squeeze out all the power out of your car. But it should give you a nice power boost and as long as you choose the right map the AFR's are all set relatively rich & safe. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25211 EDIT: I don't use unichip and don't know much about it but have just heard good things and think its pretty cool for the price point. I'd ask Unichip Jack if you have more questions. |

Just because some other fart can makes more noise and has blue tips and whales like a scalded ape.. Doesn't mean it performs any better or is worth living with the noise and drone for .5 HP more you cant feel. Most of the other systems lose low end torque for a tad more HP on top so they can look cool with big pipes.. This car NEEDS more low end.. Not more on top. So don't think you had to settle for a mediocre setup because some think its too pricey and sedate.. You did good.. |

You can keep going if you like.. Cause you haven't shown me anything really..
My post addressed , quality, fitment, droning, etc.. Dyno tests from aftermarket manufacturers who are trying to sell you something usually don't mean much. And it's not all about power.. As mentioned above. Different dynos, temps, variables, mods.. Etc.. Not to mention losing low end for top.. I would do the exhaust mainly for sound and looks.. Cause there isn't much to go after as the stock system (catback) isn't that restrictive.. And I don't want to lose any bottom end tq. |

If your looking for looks and TRD stickers, that's fine, but if your talking quality & power for the price, there are much better aftermarket choices. Also, we're talking delta gains here on the same dyno & conditions. I don't understand your point about "different dyno different conditions" as that's not really valid. The OP asked how noticeable the power difference will be after installing TRD parts. From what dynos I've seen posted of the TRD stuff, you really won't notice much difference (if at all), and that's why Alaskan posted dynos to show that. |

How come you can have same mods to same cars with similar mileage dyno on the same dyno and all achieve different results? Thats what Im saying. this arguement has and will go on forever. and marketing for a company that sells its products usually pull off better numbers than most.. I seen some controlled testing results that seem plausible.. yet even the same car, same day, temps, etc will run different numbers with no changes. and when your comapring 2.5 to 4 or 6 HP.. could be anything.. |
