As numerous of the reader I am not yet decided in my final choice.
Full Android as the T7019 or a mixed with Win Ce T6030 (Tradesolution HK) T09A was stated to be so bad. I only want a real compatible Toyota unit as 2Din needs modifications on the central panel which I don't wish.
In fact I never used Android and do not understand the real necessity to have such system on a car radio. When I drive I do not have a look on my mail or surf on the net. I request to the head unit to have a good management of my music, my radios, phone hand free and effective GPS maps. Android will be, for the time being in my opinion, only usefull for the Torque system.
I had a look on other Android Apps. and noted that we can also have good result for the musics files.(winamp for exemple)
I read with interest the various post but some points remain obscure , so please my questions,
What are the difficulties of use with the 2 systems? (CE+Android)
Can we use an indépendant GPS maps sytem (TomTom) with Android?
What are the difference between Android v2.3 (T7019) and v4 (T6030)?
Is it necessary to rooted the V4? If yes, how?
Is the hand free on T7019 well funtionning?
I understood that it is possible to read music from the rear USB (T7019), is the use of the various folders remain easy
Must to say that in Europe the car is equiped with an OEM Toyota system but the GPS option cost about 800€ (1033$), so I decided to try an other solution.(cheapest of course)
I thank you for your advices and suggestions.

Well, here's my reasoning behind choosing the Android head unit rather than a typical WinCE from the big names. Choice, price and extensibility.

When you buy a Pioneer or Kenwood, you are stuck to what they give you. You even have to PAY for updates.

With an Android based unit. You choose what you want to run. Don't like one GPS program? Download another. Don't like one music interface? Download another. You can customize your interface to suit what you like. And apps are updated through the Play Store whenever you sync.

A lot of the android head units also support CANBUS. If I can figure out how to harness that, then that opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

The truth is, for 350-450$, you get a unit that can trump a 1000$+ Kenwood/Pioneer on a LOT of levels.

It all depends on what you expect from your unit.

I myself don't care about tethering, bluetooth, email, contacts, surfing, facebook and all that other stuff. Those things I do far more relaxed and easier with a tablet or on my PC.

For in car use my 'demands' are:
-FM radio
-reading mp3 music from different sources (cd/usb/sd)
-offline navigation
-Torque compatible
-red LED's

That's about it.

I know that this is not a high demand list, but the standard radio in my car is pretty ***. Only radio and cd. No external usb or sd...

When I am driving with the Evo I don't want to use the phone or surf... Like you really have time for all that crap if you drive the car how it should supposed to be driven...

Reason why I didn't went with an A brand?

Among that short list there is however one hot item that doesn't work with the A brand devices... namely Torque (or any other OBD2 scanner).

Also the Pioneers, Kenwoods, Alpine's start at around 1000 euro. For this Elija S2 unit + OBD2 cable I paid 680 euro (ex VAT but shipping inclusive). In my book that is not a bad deal when you compare to the A brands. As said earlier, this price might be 'heavy' compared to China direct pricing but on the other hand I have 2 years of warranty and compared to the big names, it's still a good deal. Also, IF something would happen and I need to make a warranty claim, my return shipping costs will be lower and I won't have to pay duties on warranty replacements as they are located in Europe. If you consider that too, then this is not an expensive unit...

All those things combined, made me decide to go for the 'expensive' Elija S2...

Wow! That's pretty cool!

Nice to see that people with the needed skills/knowledge actually take matters in their own hands and show some nice initiative by making their own 'perfect' app!

I can't help you with any code as I am a non IT'er, but hey, I have a nice tip I believe...
Guess you figured that out by yourself already, but here we go:

It appears there is a lot of interest in red LED units, so I would assume a red graphic/skin layout would be appreciated as well!

So far for my usefull contribution

BUT, if you ever commercialise it, I will buy it without any question, just out of appreciation and support!

2. Do I still need the metra wiring harness?

3. Is everything with the headunit a plug n play other than the WIFI and BT dongles?

4. Will my USB I/O below the a/c control still be functional?
The list I wrote is for the Toyota fit T7019A.

It uses the OEM mounts and is plug and play with no wiring harness or aftermarket mount kit required.

The TUN21A requires a wiring harness and dash mount kit as 2forme has mentioned.

Answers to your questions:
For TUN21A

1. Yes
2. Yes, you will need wiring harness and antenna adapter
3. No , you need the wiring harness
4. You can make it work. There's a post somewhere but not as standard

For T7019A
1. Yes
2. No, it is plug and play
3. Yes
4. You can make it work. There's a post somewhere but not as standard

For ease of fitting the T7019A is the way to go. The benefit of the TUN21A is that it has skip track up and down buttons whereas the T7019A uses touch screen buttons for track up and down.

Only other difference is the TUN21A has blue LEDs and the T7019A has green I think

Just to add, price wise they are the same, T7019A costs 30$ more but doenst need the harness/dash kit which will set you back the same amount if you go for Tun21A.

Wifi picks up home and iphone hotspot fine. I am only connected to one at a time though.

Sometimes takes a couple of goes to find the wifi connections available but once connected seems fine.

I do find the wifi works best when dongle plugged in directly to USB lead rather than in hub so if I'm downloading apps etc I generally have just the wifi plugged in before I turn the unit on. With data costs here I generally don't have it tethered to my phone when driving.

Bluetooth pairs with my iphone automatically each time.

Mine came Wednesday, installed it last night. Played with it for about 5 minutes and put my stock nav back in. The resistive touchscreen makes me want to kill someone. I think the music app is just as bad but the screen is so bad I couldn't even use it to tell. And that was as far as I got. It's going back.

Why didn't you get the capacitive one? And you could download another music player. I know I'm working on replacement ones myself.

I don't know, I think I ordered it before it was at all clear what was what. For anyone considering the resistive screens, though, save yourself 5 years of your life and don't do it.
