Quick question to those who have had their car shipped (to CA or anywhere for that matter), what was the condition of the car once delivered using the new company (accelerated shipping with heuberger)? I'm concerned about rock chips/dings/etch rather than dirtiness. Thanks for any input!

I recently purchased a new BRZ Limited from Heuberger that was delivered damaged. The rear bumper cover was scratched up by something rubbing up and down against it during transport. Unfortunately I was responsible for paying half of the $750+ repair because Accelerated can't prove who caused the damage. An Accelerated transport picked it up at the dealer and took it to their facility. They then subbed the delivery to an outside hauler. Your car will likely arrive very dirty and may mask hidden damage. If you do have it transported have the driver meet you at a car wash or rinse it off and inspect it before you take possession. I understand they now offer a covered carrier option which may be a good idea.
My suggestion would be to buy your car from Clint, fly there and drive it back yourself. You will get a chance to meet Clint, inspect your new car and break it in having a nice road trip home. This is the route I will take next time. I wouldn't hesitate buying your car from Clint. He was in constant communication daily trying to resolve my issue. I still saved a ton of money purchasing my BRZ through Heuberger even factoring in the repair cost. I just wish my delivery experience was as positive as my car buying experience.

UPDATE:
Clint spoke to the President of Accelerated and resolved the issue. They will reimburse me the other portion of the repair amount. Kudos to Clint and Tom for making the situation right and I appreciate the stand up service of your respective companies. Thank you!

With this being said, unfortunately Darren your was the only BRZ from Accelerated that got damaged. However, the damage was small.

I do as if everyone reads in this thread and my own thread. I always send videos of the vehicles prior to the car being sent out to you -- as I've done for everyone that has purchased from me.

Also, since Darren I have shipped many out to CA since then with no issues.

The car will get dirty yes, they are outside and travel through different states and weather. I will not guarantee or the company will guarantee it's perfectly clean.

I know some members have got bumped to our enclosed shipping since you are forum members. Happens seldom but it's nice when they do it.

My suggestion to every person that talks to me I suggest if you are concerned as there is no guarantee with shipping to drive out. However that doesn't always work for some folks.

Accelerated is aware of what happened with Mr. Lattin's car and helped him fix it.

Since then they are really gearing up.

I hope this helps and I think they are doing a great job so far.

Any questions you guys know my cell and I ALWAYS try to help and back up and always ENSURE your guy's happiness. 115% of the time.

Best,

Clint

I had my car delivered by the original company, Diamond express. After reading all the threads, I think if u insist that the company use their own carrier or driver, that may solve the issue. I was concerned about Diamond Express after some of the posts above, however, I insisted on Diamond's own driver, Leo, who picked up my car a week after I purchased it. The car arrived without any damage and wasn't that dirty.

Again, Heuberger motor does a great job. Hats off to Clint and crew. Just be careful and patient about the transport

I spoke with Tom Montgomory the President of Accelerated. He called me apologizing to Darren and positive fix's moving forward. I have now went to the top to ensure your cars are safe.

Tom also said if anyone has ANY questions when the vehicle ships he will talk with you directly.

Best,

I put down my deposit on my BRZ Limited with Clint last week at Heuberger. With the prices I was quoted with local dealerships, I'm getting my limited much cheaper than a premium out here. Probably the same price as FRS with no additional add-ons.
After everything goes through, I should be receiving it mid June. I was gonna ask those who purchased their cars from Heuberger how did the whole experience go with shipping? My concern is the car getting some damage from transport to my home. And AFTER the car arrived, what all did you have to do? Register at DMV, smog...?

Read the first page. The procedures are pretty simple.

Today visit DMV, easy! No trouble but need to go back to provide the smog cert and real CO registration to complete it.

Here is a summary:

1. Yes, need to do a smog check, even the car is brand new. Say $50.
2. No re-smog every 2 years. It is a 5 years after this one, just like any new car.
3. Pay a $292 CA registration fee, just like buying in CA. Registration starting today. So It make sense to use the CO temp registration to the last day, because I walk out with a CA temp registration with today's date.
4. CA Sales tax collected in CO is all credited. My CO dealer hit me with Santa Clara rate, so I owe nothing. Otherwise pay the difference. Will end up the same anyway.
5. The CO RTD tax for 1.1% collected, it is paid to CO, no refund, no credit. $310 is wasted.
6. The CO title / license Fee collected and paid to CO, $267 is another waste, cannot credit to CA fee.
7. Misc: Waiting for the car for a 1 week or so after paid....(say cost $100 on car payment?)
8. Take my time off from work to wait in line in DMV...(pay rate @??)

My car is MSRP shipped. The fee wasted is about $727 in the process of bringing in the car. I would say I will go for MSRP + $1000 if there is a car available in CA, if I can go back and do this again. (It does not means I agree with this MSRP + practice)

(Bonus: I can go back to CA dealer and refund the lemon car if the CEL issue pop up and cannot be fix. Now I only limit to warranty repair.)
