Well the most anticipated/best day of my life has officially come to an end, although Im still grinning ear to ear. I still cant believe this car is mine, I seriously wonder how long its going to take before I can convince myself Im not living in a cruel dream.
My shifting skills increased dramatically over the course of the evening. its been a good 4 or 5 years since I've driven a standard, so the old left food was definitely not quite up to speed at first. I only stalled once, and this was actually back in town after my 3 hour drive home. Unfortunately it was at a fairly embarrassing point, with no shortage of onlookers, but I probably needed something to humble me a little bit at that point anyways so whatever I guess. One way or another, great day in my life that Im sure I'll never forget. Pics coming tomorrow!! Hopefully the sun decides to poke its head out... |

Well my mother said I would be late for my own funeral, and she's probably right. Better late than never with some pics, only a week late! I still plan on finding some more exotic locations to take pictures than my parking lot, but between golf and work, my hands have been a little bit tied up these days..
Much more excited to take some pictures with the TRD exhaust installed, and tint, dealership fell through on both and promised to have everything ready for me in a few weeks (CAI, exhaust, air filter, room at the shop they get the tinting done at). Going back to Barrie in a few weeks, which will be perfect, as I'll be that much closer to having her broken it. |

Firestorm Red FR-S
I'm 55 now - Picked up my Firestorm Red FR-S (which I explain to people who have never seen this car that it's a SUBARU.. because it is, and sold by Scion) last October.
After dreaming for 35 years or more (actually 43 years) of owning a Porsche one day this is finally "the car". For $25k is affordable, balanced, 6 speed, RWD, and (hopefully) as reliable as a "Toyota". My kids are gown now (21, 23 and 25) so the mini-van is gone (the wife drove it.. not me). I've had 3 Celica's, and a Passat V6 5 Speed with suspension work (my "poor" man's BMW). The FR-S is small, gets good gas mileage, may not feel fast (not enough torque) but is really fast enough on the street. I don't need leather, NAV or "electronic" climate controls (in fact I've always hated those electronic climate controls preferring to "set" everything my self!) and the FR-S is less money than the BR-Z.... BUT IT'S THE SAME CAR PEOPLE! Once I get lowering springs and performance shocks (as everyone else does in both the BRZ and FR-S those "handling" differences between the two cars are a mute point in every's comments that the "BRZ handles better"). Enjoy! |
