let me tell you, we have a solid 11-13 person admin team in real life and we have difficulty maintining an 8-10 event time-attack season.

when you have a "click and play" system with Wall-i doing the tedious and annoying bits, it makes for more enjoyable game play.

Miss the race at 8pm cuz you were banging your wife? No problem, just wait for the 9pm race. Wake up at 1AM wanting to do some racing? No problem, chances are your competitors wont be speaking any English but you still compete for the same series and the same points.

Automation is a great thing.

GT5 has essentially two types of online gaming. Both Private and Public. You can create your own rooms within your home environment and invite your friends to join the room. If you have a schedule of events setup with your friends, then it's like any other racing series in real life. You don't show up to the race...you don't get points. That's pretty plain and simple if you ask me. Of course points tally and maintaining is up to you and your group of friends.

That is separate from the Public section of the Online experience. The public section loads with a bunch of different rooms and has titles that the owner of the room created, describing what they intend to do in that room. Lot of rooms have the "Serious or Kick" title people setup...i.e. drive right or get a boot.

This new series setup and championship thing for GT6 has no details released on it yet, so can't speculate how the layout will be or if any automation things are triggered.

And now I will step off of my soap box.
1000x this.

The cars in GT games sound like vacuum cleaners and that's why I play Forza instead.

see, this is where i feel iRacing shines and i'm confuzzeled as to why othergames don't imitate it.

When you do a room and a single, agreed upon race, you limit yourself tocompetition.

In iRacing, any given race series (based on car type) lasts a quarter of theyear, and split into 12-13 week-long sessions.

Every single hour you have a chance to enter a race and get paired up withwhoever is willing to race at that same time. If there are drivers than a racewill allow, then that session is simply split into multiple instances.

Your score is based on your relative global position. So you can’t cheat thesystem. Not only must you finish 1st in a race but you must alsopost a good time. So if out of 120 people lets say you rank 24, and you enter arace and end up with a bunch of slower drivers, if you come in 1st butyour times would have put you in 12th if you raced against the bestdrivers in your series, then you get lower points.

Your score for each week is the average of half of your best runs. So youcan race as many times as you want during that week to try and get a highscore.

This is far superior to “having to make” a scheduled game, because each houris a chance to participate in a scheduled game where scoring and positions areall handled (securely and accurately) server side.

If you’re #1 in any given series, you can boast with confidence that you arein fact #1 out of iRacing’s entire pool of players without a need for setting up a "special race" etc.

and again, no need for human involvement

Some it's auditory stimulation, others it's sensory stimulation. GT you can "feel" the contact patch. Forza...not so much.

You know you are comparing a console sim to a PC sim right? What works for PC gamers does not always work for Console gamers. Target audiences and your demographic is what you need to pay attention to, not blindly implementing a strategy used in a totally different platform/experience. Aside from that, that scoring system may be convenient, it's by far from realistic expectations that you would adhere to in a real life professional racing series. You don't show for a race, you don't get points.

PS...not to sound like an A-hole, this thread is about GT6, not iRacing.

Yeah, it sounds good. But until it's here, I'm buying new hardware/games that support 3+ monitors. So no GT6 for me, unless PS4 supports and 3+ monitors and GT6 is also released on it.

Yea that would be nice to have without needing 3 PS3's and 3 GT's.

Kazunori Yamauchi, can you please enhance the crash damage! Hitting a guard rail at 150 mph does not leave a black smudge on the fender!

p.S, you better have a Supra!! Every time I've gone online, I had at least one person asking me if I want to trade my Super White RZ!

He's said multiple times with regards to GT5 that he didn't want to upset the beauty of the cars. Which makes sense, because all the time he could have used designing a better user experience, he was busy making paint shimmer accurately in different lighting environments. But only for a few cars.... the rest looked like garbage. Anyone remember trying to compare "premium" to "standard" models in GT5?? "Laughable" is a good word.
