Uhm, no. Come on Polyphony. You had your best wheel selection in GT4 and then completely butchered it in GT5 with a terrible selection AND limiting it (for the majority of its release) to premium cars. Not a single old school Japanese wheel was included in GT5. GT4, from memory, had SSR longchamps, SSR MK2, and Watanabe R8.
I can understand not having an in-dash view for EVERY car in the game, but exterior customization is basically a necessity in todays racing simulators. Hell, YOU pioneered it. So stop fooling around and finally step into Forza's territory of car customization. If you did that, GT would be the hands down no bullshit better game. Right now, its a little better.
GT4: Awesome when it came out for the photo-mode with how you could make your car look, TERRIBLE physics (LSD on a RWD car, try do a donut...couldn't)
GT5: Way better physics, but your car isn't a premium? Tough luck, hope the manufacturer gave the car passable wheels from the factory or your SOL.

Scenery wasn't really the problem with this, it was the fact that you had little input on exactly how the track came out. However, more scenery options is never a bad thing. I REALLY hope they expand on this part of the game much further in GT6. Lots of potential for fun.
