Gran Turismo 6 coming Holiday 2013

The 15th Anniversary is going on right now and I'm trying to follow the abundance of post over on GTplanet.

This was quoted from IGN:

Sony has announced that Gran Turismo 6 is in development for the PlayStation 3 with a targeted released window of 'Holiday 2013'.
The President of Polphony Digital and creator of the franchise, Kazunori Yamauchi, made the announcement today at an event celebrating 15 years of Gran Turismo at Silverstone in the UK.
"I'd like to announce today that we are developing GT 6 for the holiday season this year on the PlayStation 3," he revealed. "The game engine will be renewed for GT6, we'll be cleaning it up, making it smoother for the future.
"The rendering engine will be completely renewed for GT 6, there will be a revamped Physics Engine, new suspension, tyre and aerodynamics modelling."

yeah i'm sure this will be delayed and the next 2 forza iterations will come out before then.

R_E_L 05-15-2013 02:08 PM

Looks like they're gunning for Forza with the new customization features. I'm just glad you can now get a bigger variety of aero features on most of the cars instead of just an ugly spoiler like in GT5.

Carlitoz3 05-15-2013 02:14 PM

Should be a good one!

turbo_jimbo 05-15-2013 03:27 PM

I dont think they've ever made their targeted release date. Just add about 40 months and should be about right.

A bit absurd to think that. GT5 was the evolution from GT4. GT6 is not an evolution from GT5, so it's not going to take no where near as long. They have been working on it since before GT5 was even released.

The physics changes should be interesting. And looking forward to additional Aero/wheel packages. Think it's time I finally got a new wheel. Ever since mine crapped out, the controller just blows.

Uhm, no. Come on Polyphony. You had your best wheel selection in GT4 and then completely butchered it in GT5 with a terrible selection AND limiting it (for the majority of its release) to premium cars. Not a single old school Japanese wheel was included in GT5. GT4, from memory, had SSR longchamps, SSR MK2, and Watanabe R8.

I can understand not having an in-dash view for EVERY car in the game, but exterior customization is basically a necessity in todays racing simulators. Hell, YOU pioneered it. So stop fooling around and finally step into Forza's territory of car customization. If you did that, GT would be the hands down no bullshit better game. Right now, its a little better.

GT4: Awesome when it came out for the photo-mode with how you could make your car look, TERRIBLE physics (LSD on a RWD car, try do a donut...couldn't)
GT5: Way better physics, but your car isn't a premium? Tough luck, hope the manufacturer gave the car passable wheels from the factory or your SOL.

....reallllyyyy? I am....intrigued.

Scenery wasn't really the problem with this, it was the fact that you had little input on exactly how the track came out. However, more scenery options is never a bad thing. I REALLY hope they expand on this part of the game much further in GT6. Lots of potential for fun.

Your name with that quote made me snicker a bit. See also: GT4.

I rather them take a moderate amount of time like another year, then release fast and have a game full of bugs.

OldSkoolToys 05-15-2013 04:24 PM

depends on how long its actually been in development since they announced its release. If what snap says is true, then they've had plenty of time to test a 'beta' version and work the bugs out. Infact, I'd venture to say that is exactly what they're doing over these next 7 or so months.

Giccin 05-15-2013 04:26 PM

Don't care. Buying anyways.
